This was extremely upsetting to me, and plunged me into a depression. If there's a backdoor, there is no encryption. Simple as that.

Chat Control was mainly about the client-side scanning, where the message content is scanned by the app before being "encrypted" and sent across the network. And depending of the nature of the message, the chat platforms are free to give the content to the autorities.
But I think they've removed it from the text due to the public pressure and oppositions in the European Parliament. Right now, the main topic of the text is probably about the mandatory age verification part, which is also a big problem since it implies ID check.

I think Meta and all these companies lie about their end-to-end encryption system, but they are probably doing client-side scanning from the beggining.

So whatever the law will be approved or not, keep doing some client-side encryption before sending messages, it's always a good practice.

I tried using one of Sean's drawings as a reference. The CRBA style is quite a bit different from the FIM style (which I presume you are referring to), so I'm not sure how helpful that would be.

Speaking of flash though, I remember very shortly after discovering CRBA there being somewhere Sean talked about trying to make a flash rig. This has been one of the biggest mysteries for me though, as in that I've never been able to find that comment or post ever again. I've gone as far as downloading every comment and post on his deviantart and looking at all mentions of 'Flash' and have been unable to find it.
