Alysa Liu was conceived via in-vitro fertilization (IVF) using her father Arthur Liu's sperm and an anonymous egg donor (who was Caucasian/white).

In the united states a person can pay for the full process of IVF with egg donation and gestational surrogacy as a single intended parent. This is fully legal in the state of california. And has occurred as early as 1990. The process is given the term assisted reproductive technology (ART). And has allowed for selection of genetic traits as well as gender.

There are no ethical obligations requiring clinics to provide or to refuse non-medical sex selection.


Base gestational surrogacy such as surrogate compensation, agency, legal document creation fees, insurance, expenses. Embryo creation, transfers, meds, monitoring. Egg donation compensation, agency, retrieval cycle, more legal fees for contract negotiations, psychological screening, travel, contingencies like lost wages or C-section bonuses for the surrogate, Runs $140,000–$350,000 per child based on average estimates.

well lately i'm looking back at the charm of 2020-2022 but 2024 was barely a year ago. like yknow it's literally february 2026. when it comes to real nostalgia i'm looking back at 2012-2015 pretty hard at the moment. really good anime came out around then and i remember it was the last time before 2019 where i was actually looking in awe at the rising quality of anime by JC staff and such. like they looked so fucking and the style of Hennneko reviving moe properly was such an adorable sight to behold.
but 2024 was definitely the start of another era and we're in the middle of that era. idk what definition of nostalgia there is that would apply to "REMEBER A YEAR AGO??" unless you entered middle school in 2024 or something lol that'd be crazy an you should go back to watching nickelodeon or whatever lol

so, if you're talking video, MPEG 1 and 2 (.mpg, .mpeg) were used a bunch and got displaced by MPEG 4 (.mp4, .m4v)

if you're talking audio, MPEG-1 layer 1 (.mp1)... wasn't ever used much but existed, layer 2 (.mp2) found quite a bit of use
but MP3s were smaller, and naturally beat out both formats since the tradeoffs were encoding/decoding speed (mp1 is easier than mp2, which is easier than mp3) while hardware got faster
