Crypto has a worse environmental footprint than a lot of traditional money. But so does a lot of other stuff like gaming on high settings. The environmental cost is a genuine concern, but it's cynically used by the feds to vilify crypto and keep us afraid. Also, Monero has a much smaller footprint than Bitcoin. Another reason it's great!

This is true. I was sloppy with my words and should have said than credit card transactions rather than traditional money. I wouldn't be surprised if there was an overall downward trend in emissions if all paper money was replaced by crypto. But most people use credit cards these days and most crypto transactions are more intensive than credit card transactions when it comes to electricity consumption. (Though they have the advantage of not having the costs associated with making the plastic for cards and so on.)

I just mention it because it's something you see politicians and propagandists on the left latch onto to demonize crypto sometimes when it's more of a red herring than anything. Maybe more with NFTs since those are even more intensive, but NFTs are so fucking ghey that you don't need another reason to hate them.

Monero is very well-optimized for that activity, but Bitcoin and some other major ones consume insane amounts of electricity to mine and contribute to a ton of e-waste. But that's just an argument in favor of Monero, as if we needed another one. Normalfags can't grasp these distinctions.

I think the two spin-offs (Burn Up W, Burn Up X) are actually far superior (more characters, more fanservice, wackier hijinks and humor). Everything's all scattered in regards to the much older imageboards... I find it kind of hard to find as a imageboard newb. I was interested previously in trying to write some vague history of 4chan on our wiki as part of our BBS culture, particularly when I realized w*rld2ch was connected to it, but i found it too overwhelming to invest the time into... (´人｀)
I'm sure it's trivial to find, just scroll through teh original SA thread long enough, but it's tedious..

on the topic of Hikari3, I don't quite remember how it started, but i know for sure it atleast had some roots in Heyuri. I can personally say syrno is connected to heyuri, i last saw him in a Cytube in i think late 2025, and a few times before that. We had them in our links page and i think had a banner up too, but i believe during their recent overhaul they forgot to re-add us. That got fixed recently though.

We had a chess tournament at some point that involved a bunch of BBSes (half of which didn't show up) and Hikari3 won, but i never added that to the page. I'll probably do it after this post.

One I don't know very much about is Kissu. I think it's been around for a while, but i have no idea how it came about, nor what it's been doing.
