Back in them days the big media companies invested heavily into p2p clients to popularise them advertising them heavy then used the end of the CD Boom to try and push draconian laws to try and take control of content the internet that threatened their oligarchy, people stood up against it and the bills proposed were never taken seriously. Nowadays there's "algorithms" that favor absolute low effort content based solely on consumerism on whatever these giants shit out and there's no need for such dumb laws. The big "content creators" have multimillion contracts with networks that are owned by these media giants and it's even the case with social media pages. Flash was killed off by Adobe who were a sister of Apple because it threatened their Appstore which was huge money for their shitty ass games, instead of what ruffle does now and a genuine adaption that emulates Flash it was just purposely killed off, not before threatening NG with blacklisting them from ad servive to remove 100000 submissions for vague "copyright infringement" then blacklisting them anyway.

Another thing I miss is people hated unoriginal faggots like memes lasted a week max back then, they actually had some culture behind it like anime, I've just had to burn off quite a few people I speak to online because it's an absolute chore trying to speak to someone who can only fucking communicate in shitty ass 2015 A DECADE OLD already-outdated gentrified vine ebonics and shitt

Set up Linux on your computer or laptop or whatever. Tell them that you need it for computer science class or IT or whatever the hell.

Then your parents likely won't know how to use it enough to find your personal files.

Also, you can do cool tricks like hiding your personal files in a place where nobody would think to look, like ~/.local/firefox or something like that, and you could also do some tricks with permissions to make it harder to find.

Something I used to do was make a folder like ~/.local/firefox/folderWithYourStuff/
and I would remove read permission for the 'firefox' folder, but 'folderWithYourStuff' would still have read permission enabled. So whenever you want to look at your files (like your ecchi pictures and hentai and stuff) you would just type ~/.local/firefox/folderWithYourStuff into the 'location' bar of your file manager, and there it is.
