What gives your life meaning?
I am increasingly growing more and more disgusted and tired with life as I get older, first of all people disappoint me, and often annoy me, and this has makes my will power to put in any effort into life greatly diminish, leading to me living a lethargic and hedonistic existence. While I am passionate about certain subjects which I can read about and learn about, this isn't enough to give me the drive to sacrifice my free time to do the difficult and monotonoius things which would lead me on a path to living a more normal (non-neet) life.
I am not at all depressed, I just feel that there is nothing worth sacrificing anything for, and this leads to me living an uneventful and droll existence.
Maybe I am wrong and I am depressed and just dont realise.

I feel like if I were only born into a family that I actually liked, and met friends growing up that I actually liked and kept, that things might be different. Ultimately people do not get up for work every morning just for the money, they do it for the people around them, they do it also for society, but I do not like either the people around me or my society. I feel no malevolence to the people around me, I just don't like them, and therefore I am without purpose, I am as good as a lobotomite, I won't lift a finger to contribute because I see no point in it, I am indifferent to my society.

i understand this quite well.
tbh there's a reason monasteries exist (no matter which religion, buddhist, christian), so people can just laze around doing things for ""god"". i mean it's not even a critic, they separate themselves from 'the world' deliberately.
but for us?
you and me are forced to do the 9-5 thing, we can't even exit to monasteries or the likes, don't we?
and because that's the situations we're in, we're actually, well, having quite FULL RIGHT to be as hedonistic or whatever 'unseemly thing' one thinks one needs, just to BALANCE OUT the whole "have to work and do society things in society" that our life forced on us.
PLEASURES to balance unanandonable PAINS.
yes, we don't have to be saints.
we are allowed to not be saints.
if we can't abandon the world that forces itself,
then we have the right to use the world anyhow we can.
even if we don't find "higher meaning" (try as we might) (probably not in the sucky place and time we're in)
so we just try and try what we can.
and you know what? some DO turn even more "religious" or "spiritual" meanwhile, it's all ok.
whatever one needs.
to cope. to go on.
