I get sick of a song very quickly and I actually avoid listening to music because Spotify and stuff will always repeat the same songs, and I've never been able to download enough music to avoid repetition.

I have tinnitus so I pretty much always play music at home to distract myself. I've probably racked up that and more with the tracks I like

it can be literally anything meaningless at all. imagine you just randomly imagine "i wanna collect 10 tin cans per day, either by my own purchase or litters" and then you set about to do it. its like a bit you commit to. not for any heavy reason.

but the key is you do it often (so you feel you're moving), and there's some faroff goal in the distance (so you get sense of progress), and you have no pressure at all (so you won't feel bogged by it).

it's partly why people play videogame, see.

maybe in your life you kinda like music for example. but just that, you just like it in lukewarm way.

One thing I admit benefits reddit is the subreddit system. Anyone can create a community for a niche interest, and it doesn't have to fight for exposure like threads on 4chan boards do. If you don't like how a sub is run, you can make your blackjack & hookers version and hopefully likeminded users will come along.

The admins and powermods (guys who mod lots of influential subs and wield their sliver of power like petty tyrants) are bastards though.

8chan did this, and while it was good for having boards dedicated to niche topics and homes for wandering communities, the many attempted transitions from an older board to a new alternative rarely worked out

Even if a sizable number of users thought the board owner sucked, the majority of users would continue to coalesce on the existing, more popular/active board - especially if it was one of the "traditional" boards inherited from 4chan (/v/, /a/, /b/, etc.)

The burden of having to create all-new board assets and threads was a pain in the ass too, and users never wanted to lose their existing board culture

Both sites are kuso that I very rarely use but at least people on 4chan feel honest, Reddit is only good for finding porn or piracy, if you intend to have a discussion outside of those topics you will have to endure their unbearable passive-aggressive smugness, discussing anything is irrelevant it's just an excuse to show others that they're dumb and you're super-smart.

I can agree on liking the forum format better than imageboards because it's easier to find interesting content and you can trust usernames with a good reputation, but if the only relevant "forums" left are Plebbit and Shitscord I'd rather use IBs instead.
