2 years ago, I moved overseas, to a new country. In that time, I haven't made any effort to learn the language. I still haven't reliably learned to count to ten. That is because, I don't need to, to survive, and because, for some reason, the motivation to do so hasn't appeared.

Without getting into my life details, I moved here with no friends or family. Just a internet job. I spend most of my time in my home. But I'm not a recluse, I'm not autistic. In my home country, I held conversations just fine, I was even popular in high school.

My lack of learning the language means that I haven't had the small talk, that even NEETs are sometimes subjected to at the grocery store. No. I have been basically deaf and mute for two years. I have understood no one and no one has understood me. I awkwardly stumble through conversations, and leave as quickly as possible. Because of this, even a simple task like picking up medicine at the pharmacy is excruciating. That's why I am making this thread.

Today, when I went, the staff behind the counter really felt like asking me tons of questions which I couldn't answer, and my phone wasn't working either, so I couldn't translate. I could feel people staring and my face turning red.

It's been two years, and in this time, even a 25 second exchange with a clerk feels exhausting. I didn't mean for my life to be like this.

P.S.: The only times I have had conversations with another human being have been when I was on vacation outside of this country.

book of the law, or anything by Crowley. it's best if you study his work because you won't get much out of simply reading it. once you do so, you'll definitely view life differently for better or for worse. getting into esoterism/occultism in general will change the way you view life. that doesn't mean it will change your life though....

I have a bunch of philosophy books but I've only read a few. I'd recommend reading the classics. I just finished The Consolation of Philosophy by Boethius and I'm part of the way through Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle.

I bought some more modern stuff like Beyond Good and Evil by Nietzsche and The Myth of Sisyphus by Camus but I wanna get through the classics first.

Also, I'd highly recommend reading religious texts. They are very easy to get your hands on and are well worth the time.

If you are coming from windows you likely do a really privacy centric OS, you just want any decent linux OS.

I recommend an arch derivative, like CachyOS.

I am twice divorced and am reasonably confident I am the only Heyurizen with that status (´人｀)
Possibly the only Heyurizen who's even been legally married. Not counting the old japanese men on /sw/

Maybe because I have tasted sex and women, I can more easily dismiss it. When you don't have something, it seems really great, and it really sucks that you don't have it. Once you've had it, you can look at it more objectively. Unbiased by FOMO, I can say that in most cases masturbation is better than sex, and that girls don't make good companion animals until they are old and wise - by which point they are no longer cute and sexually arousing - by which point they are no better than men, whom are almost always much cheaper and easier to be friends with and just as fun.
