Have you ever done an experiment to prove your OoBEs are real and not just dreams/hallucinations? Like putting 5 cards face down, only looking at them while having an OoBE, writing down what they are when you wake up, and waiting until you're sober before checking what the cards actually are? If you can't pick things up during an OoBE you could also put them face up somewhere out of sight with your eyes closed.

I think laws like the online safety act would affect mainstream social media, but then you have sites like AO3 that were founded on the idea that if its not illegal, I should be allowed to post it. Like they have an army of lawyers or something. I wouldnt be surprised if theres other sites like that. I know some YouTubers got sick of dealing with YT and made that Nebula thing but I dont think its a more guarded alternative per se.

Anyway, finding or creating niche places online and gatekeeping them is how you keep good places for different sorts of people. Idk if gatekeeping is the right word but w/e

lol, nobody in power gives a fuck about fanfiction. The kinds of sites that need lawyers and an army of ddos mitigation devs are sites hosting something that pisses off some powerful group. You dont have to be a big power to threaten a lawsuit, AO3 was founded because LiveJournal got threatened with lawsuits for some old gay fanfics. LiveJournal and FF.net both deleted a bunch of stuff.

The people in power arent who I generally fear, I generally fear weirdo individuals who wanna be stalkers or harass people. And those are the kinds of people who harass sites to try and get them to delete stuff. Like when Collective Shout went on a campaign to censor Steam and itch.io got fucked up in the process.

Any site that gets a lot of traction needs protection from angry internet sperg mobs. Same general idea behind why the average person needs a lock on their front door.
