Relieved but at the same time disappointed, I lifted myself up from the cardboard box in which I sleep in and went to the kitchen to prepare some breakfast, all the while fantasizing about how my life would be happier if I had a cute little sister to stay by my side while I slept.

Totally agreed, and that's what we've done for the most part - in addition to the boards we still have today, we've previously had "HeyuriRemix" which used a rare Ayashii World spinoff script I found, fixed up, and translated, we had /dating/ which was a "2-shot chat", we had "Yeah" which was "Yeah"...

I've got tons of other ideas that I could start working on rite now - mainly for ancient 90s and early 2000s Japanese scripts that have never seen the light of day outside Japan - but sadly our current CGI/Perl server b0rkage issue is preventing us from doing most of those ideas (as well as being the reason that HeyuriRemix was scrapped). Worse still, the person in charge of our servers is adamant that it can't be helped when it almost certainly can

I want to run ancient Japanese CGI scripts with Heyuri too, but as as 62085-san told, our server host claims we can't run Perl scripts
He admitted that may be solvable, but another (bigger) reason is that scripts in question are open to vulnerabilities. He is already enough gracious for letting me host Heyuri on his servers for free, so I can't really push to run scripts with potential security issues on important servers... Before you ask, I can't afford a web server myself to point some subdomain of Heyuri either

Like on /sw/ and /o/, if there are well-maintained PHP scripts that may interest us, we have no problem with hosting them though

No, you can create a pull request and then it needs to be approved, and then they'd have to update kokonotsuba with the new code, at least i guess that's how it works

1. You make the change and request it to get applied on the repository (pull request)
2. I see and ask an ex-koko dev if it's safe to apply
3. I merge the pull request to the repo if it's safe
4. I update it on Heyuri when I am available

It would help to have another trusted dev who could verify stuff. By "trusted" I don't only mean normal users without ill intent, but also running their kokonotsuba instance with the exact stack as we are using for Heyuri and verify the changes can be applied without causing any issues

2020 was a very different time, and the kuz I was a fan of was a very different kuz

A huge part of Heyuri culture up to that point was centered around celebrating the guy keeping all the Rule 8 out and doing fun things with us, and kuz was seen to be the hero thwarting lolico's then-increasing tyrannical no-fun behavior

1. I don't know how much it costs (things may have to downgrade significantly or be dropped, if it's even possible for me to afford it at all)
2. I'm a n00b at server admin stuff (currently teaching myself)
3. A lot of things that are legal in "Atlantis" are illegal in my country
4. I don't want to accidentally dox or partyv& myself

That's why at the very least I can respect kuz for hosting Heyuri, because it's not just a case of having the funds

It's not something that usually works, but maybe kaguya could set up some kind of DONATE OR DIE KUZ STAYS fund

I am pretty sure you don't need to host it in your country - the best option after Kolyma is probably those "bullet-proof" hosts.
Because I am sure Turkey isn't a good place to host Heyuri either

Way too risky to depend on. What if it fails to meet the quota needed to pay for the host suddenly? Paying bills in USD with Turkish lira isn't a viable option in long term, at least until getting a job

It's not that secret - I worked out the method and salt in about 5 minutes, and I'm the furthest thing from a cryptographer. It should really be changed

considering the willingness of people to contribute to heyuri, hopefully we can replace those modules with open source alternatives soon

It's really not that advanced - my experience tinkering with a few old Japanese BBS scripts from the 90s and early-2000s that worked the same way is what tipped me off (that alone should tell you how unrecommended this method is...), and there's some additional major giveaways

Now despite it being an archaic and unrecommended method, just knowing how it works still doesn't help much with cracking leaked hashed passwords or brute forcing the login field... so shouldn't it just be open source? (obviously with different default parameters to what Heyuri is using, and not hosting a public version for people to see what our parameters are)

But that you asked, I think the files are still at host, but it was getting too much spam (including CP) for me to moderate alone, so shut down indefinitely. Maybe I can see if it's possible to host it without allowing posts, as an archive sometime so people can recover some images they liked

I don't know any other imageboards like gorechan myself, and Heyuri isn't really the right place to ask

new user are necessary for growth and survival, but it has to be done in such a way that it goes slow and steady. User are the content creator after all and can easily over stear and lose what make heyuri- heyuri.

let people do some work to get here, some sort of puzzle to solve, with tiny bits of informations. Spread that shit and does who are a little bit more... mature? find their way. i will think of this.

I want to create a sports team for my school but we don't have anywhere to play ヽ(`Д´)ノ

i want to be a hermit in the forest for around 2-3 years. things that are stopping me: family and money. i dont necessarily care about having money while im out there but id like to establish a good financial foundation to return to when i decide i've accomplished what i set out to do and come back to society.

Flying cars, which I would call aeromobiles. Just make huge drones and shove people in them. Massive quadrotors on the corners of a RV, flying house that can travel the world. What is stopping me? Lack of funds for the necessary components, people to build them damn thing and so on.

A mixture of haunted house attractions, escape rooms and paintball/airsoft/laser tag. The survival horror experience. You find yourself in a Resident Evil or Silent Hill setting, stuck in areas solving puzzles and finding keys. Meanwhile, monsters will sometimes attack you so you have to fight back with limited ammo.
Another version would have robot zombie targets that only go down from headshots. It would be a shooting range tactical training course. CCTV footage of your run would be available for review after getting to the end. Maybe a boss zombie that is harder to beat. Again I am stopped by the need for significant startup capital.

A weapons manufacturer that specifically makes things from fiction that we don't have. Without replicating them exactly, to avoid any legal entanglements. Hidden blades from Assassin's Creed for example, are just oversized double action OTF switchblades strapped to the forearm. They could be made as easily as any other DA OTF switchblade. The gun from Blade Runner looks cool, so make one like that. Similar to a Chiappa Rhino, just with an extra barrel at the top chambered in .454 Casull. Robocop's Auto-9, or something that looks enough like it at first glance. I could go on but you get the point.

This one is very good. I would also recommend Kokou no Hito, a story about a man who doesn't fit in and can't help but be alone - he turns to mountain climbing as his fulfillment. Technically it's based on a real hiker, but only barely. I disagree with the ending though! Should have stuck with the real IRL ending to the climber, but I think he changed it for the normalfags.

I concur! One of may favorites. I love FKMT's other works too, and I think too many people write him off because his art isn't generic modern crap. If OP does choose to read this, I suggest not reading the sequel because is isn't as good and the first pretty much is a great self contained story
