/b/ and /lounge/ are using Heyuri-tan, and /q/ is using /q/-tan as its profile picture, so /jp/'s webhook needs a picture of our currently inexistant /jp/-tan unsure
>>
Maybe I will try biggrin
>>
I think it would be best to let some time pass first so can get a sense of 日本語's characteristics - liek how Heyuri-tan is carefree and fun-loving, /q/-tan is very grumpy and demanding about site b0rkage, etc. smile

Speaking of /jp/, the youkoso page every time you click the board link is a little annoying sweat2

Maybe there could just be a link to that page on the board itself, liek: "gokigenyou japonaise pplz, if it's ur 1st taimu, plz read this kudasai!" (<-- in nipponese)
>>
It's a very temporary thing, I am planning remove it from the top links tomorrow and do something like you suggested
You can use the link on blotter message to save urself a click in the meanwhile

I was thinking the other day about how the world seems to be going crazy. How I wanted it to go back to "normal" - then I realized, this is normal. It always was. It was the world I was born in that was the outlier. Chaos has been the norm throughout most of the world, most of the time.

September 11th, 1990 President George H.W. Bush says in a speech: "We stand today at a unique and extraordinary moment. The crisis in the Persian Gulf, as grave as it is, also offers a rare opportunity to move toward an historic period of cooperation. Out of these troubled times, our fifth objective — a new world order — can emerge: a new era [...]

"A hundred generations have searched for this elusive path to peace, while a thousand wars raged across the span of human endeavor. Today that new world is struggling to be born, a world quite different from the one we've known. A world where the rule of law supplants the rule of the jungle."

In 1991 an international coalition led by the United States easily defeats the world's fourth largest military in Operation Desert Storm. In December of that same year the Soviet Union collapses. For a time, Bush appeared to be right. We Westerners entered into a unipolar world, a world of prosperity unparalleled in history. Despots would be disposed of. Peace, democracy and free trade would reign. It was the dream of everyone, the end of history. But it was just that, a dream. September 11th, 2001 was a rude awaking that the rule of the jungle had never really ended. That the United States had become the despotic empire it was born to oppose. And most of all, that chaos had never really been subdued.

Its a bit strange that prominent whiners on heyuri complained about "kolymization" (when formerly independant sites and services were packaged as one "kolyma" site instead of letting them be on their own. Funnily enough, no one complains when heyuri (under k*Tay d*MMir) does the same thing. A la mattari aa, strange world, nihongoch...

Complete Heyuri Internet Domination!! biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

I am personally fine with it as I believe Heyuri has the best users, see Strange World before it was Heyurized for example: https://ayashii.net/bbs.php?c=08&m=g&f=202103.dat

It was mostly terrible, only good qualities were coming from it being advertised on Heyuri rolleyes

As for Mattari AA, it was one by a Heyuri user (and presumably for primarily Heyuri, although some Japanese people noticed it too) but its license tells
>Feel free to host a copy of Mattari AA online, modify it, or sell it to your least favorite aunt for $$$ if you want - Mattari AA is FREE software for THE WORLD ヽ(´ー`)人(´ー`)人(´ー`)人(´ー`)人(´ー`)ノ
on https://mattari.heyuri.net/readme.txt - so kuz can host a copy of it on his sites if he wishes to.

And as for NC... I believe it wasn't worth keeping online as multiple boards on a separate domain. I won't use the "it was a part of Heyuri before its own" argument since not many current Heyuri users used /jp/ when it was a thing, but there are many of us who can write in Japanese/learning to do so, so I believe its merge would be for the best way for the idea that inspired it (which was having a place for non-Japanese practice Japanese, maybe also with some Japanese people posting, in an informal setting).

today, my professor brought up an interesting question, he's no bhuddist or anything and neither am i, but lets say you escape plato's cave, the cycle of reincarnation, or eternal torment, realistically would you abandon the world completely, would you be bound to it, or would you try to return to it to proselytize about the new world?
You could say one answer now, but in that moment would you be able to say the same?
i feel like i would be bound to the world, even though i've gained little from it, and enjoyed little of it, i feel as though i have every reason to suicide, but even if i did i cant expect the world to release its grasp on me
>>
Are you saying that Plato's cave and the cycle of reincarnations are basically the same thing? Because in both cases it means that people are distracted from the truth by their attachment to material things (which are in fact illusions)?
I think it's more of a conceptual thing? You're not blocked inside Plato's cave/the cycle of reincarnation the same way you would be blocked inside a level of a vide ogame... You can't escape Plato's cave while keeping a mentality that is bound to material things, because Plato's cave *IS* your mentality.
I'm not an expert on Buddhism, but if I'm correct, Buddhist monks spend their life going through meditations. And they think that these mediations will give them a state of mind that will let them break free from the cycle of reincarnations. Then they drink a mixture that makes them die and mummify their corpse, and other Buddhist monks say "Look, he has been meditating for 200 years, he sure is in a profound meditation mona2".
