I don't know, maybe this is an obscure complaint, but does anyone else here feel as if the anime artsyle is kind of 'played-out' at this point?

I mean, there's all this bog-standard, hyper-rendered digital art, and then there are Westerners who've spent their whole career trying to emulate the style, and then there's AI-art, which has increased the production of anime-style art by 4000%...

It all kind of feels like mush to me, now. Highly generic. I mean, the anime artstyle has literally become the default style for people who want to draw pretty pictures but have no ideas of their own. Everyone from retard teenagers looking at their first drawing tutorial to hack concept artists drawing the millionth dead-eyed pretty girl uses the anime artstyle. I've met people who draw in the anime style who don't even watch anime. It feels like there is no 'surprise' to it anymore.

Maybe I just feel like this because I'm an artist myself and I'm yearning to differentiate myself. I don't know.

Here's something to think about. In the West, the animanga artstyle basically supplanted the western comic/cartoon (seen in superhero comics, or disney cartoons), as the 'hip' style everyone wanted to take after. Maybe in future the same sort of thing will happen to the anime artstyle. A new style of popular art will come along that captures people's imaginations and inspires them to draw in a similar way. Like maybe they're cooking up something special in Jamaica or somewhere which will blow people's minds...

I find the ""anime art style"" to be a perfect balance between cute and realistic, which effectively makes it the best general-purpose art style. I personally don't feel tired of it. If it ain't broken, don't fix it, as they say... nagato
>>
I see where OP is coming from but I think it's not entirely hopeless. Kotoyama has a very clear "anime" aesthetic to their art but their manga panels have characters looking sharper and more angular (especially in "Call of the Night") and I'm sure there are other artists in the space who have their own flair.
I agree though that generally a lot of the most popular anime/manga will blend together artistically. The issue is likely that since they're established artforms everyone borrows from everyone else who each works within the established norm of that art.
>>
I agree in a way. I'm not bothered by how everybody is mimicking the "anime style" (as if there is only one) these days because most of that mimicky stuff is garbage. It's like people saw anime and just tried to vaguely imitate it, noseless girls with v shaped faces and eyes bigger than tits and nothing much else. What gets me is the way this mimicky anime mush has influenced the Japanese anime industry itself to the point virtually all anime looks and feels samey these days. I hate how literally everything is thin lines with faint pastel colors except for a few set piece sequences like the intro, which seems the default vanilla style these days. There's almost no diversity in art style anymore. Compare Ouran Academy Host Club to Serial Experiments Lain, completely different. But today all anime looks the same. Part of me thinks this is mass production, but part of me blames how the Japanese suddenly realized an export market existed for thus stuff and studios stopped making shows and instead focus on making something that looks and feels "anime" defined by American pop culture standards.
>>
Anime is too broad to criticize as a whole, flat, art style. Obviously, the generic stuff will always look generic. If you only look at popular shows and popular artists, it will start to blend together. The same thing was said long ago when K-On! started to dominate how "anime" as a whole looked. There will always be unoriginal copycats, but also, there will always be passionate and interesting creators pushing the boundaries. Try to appreciate the difference, and you may have more fun.

I'm having trouble finding unique, obscure anime these days

Should hitting the post button return you to the index, as it does now? Or should it noko automatically and return you to the thread you just posted in, like jschan does (I think)?
Do others have opinions on this?

>>
nonoko returns you back to the index rather than the thread.
>>
There's an option in the [Settings] above where users can turn "Always noko" on or off sweat2

Personally, I only enable it when dumping - Heyuri is slow enough that I won't immediately lose a thread halfway down the index after posting, plus I think it's better to feel like I'm posting to the board rather than posting to a thread

The latter can make threads feel like they're mini-boards/chat rooms in and of themselves, which changes the whole dynamic and lessens the cohesiveness of the board
>>
>>63708
I don't see a settings button anywhere...
Maybe I'm just blind but does it only show up if you have javascript on?

Yes
Kokonotsuba was designed to work without JS, but there are many features that you need JS to use.

I find it useful the way it is now

This is interesting. I always wonder about other people's perspectives on imageboards.

4chan banned me for asking for a rum distillation recipe on the /diy/ board (;´Д`) as if the government has cared about illegal hobby distillation at any point within the last decade
so, could anyone here give me advice?
this is the still i'm getting, the 13 gallon version with all extra components:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/385202860563?var=653080417339
and i'm planning on making a 10-13 gallon mash using 2.5 gallons of light molasses (no other sugars)
what sort of spices should i infuse into it, i'm thinking of vanilla or cinnamon, or something of that sort
in an experimental run, i could probably infuse tobacco leaves to give it an interesting flavor
pata
>>
Ejaculate in a dank place to create sperm-shrooms ヽ(´ー`)ノ
This is the only advice I can give you
>>
if anyone's still interested, i started the mash, and i found that about a pound or two of brown sugar plus the 2.5 gallons of light molasses will be perfect for getting the mash to 12-13% for a good mix of flavor and yields
>>
Sorry I can't contribute OP, but I'm sure there was some other guy talking about distillation on /b/ some time ago. Or was that just you?

Anyway sounds very cool! Just make sure you get the temperature high enough while boiling so that none of the ethanol or whatever else sticks around. I heard that shit can make you blind. (;゚Д゚)
>>
Good ideas i should try what you said. Combination sound cool. Anyway 4chan sucks. From most open forum to dictatorship but they dont care worse crimes there.

Oftentimes online personalities aimed at young men often say that jerking off often is weak and unhealthy but having real life sex is strong and good for you. Is there actually any difference between masturbation and real sex with another person other than the way that it seems socially?
>>
The difference is that I will never have the latter, and I'm actually proud of that (because I will gain magical powers) ヽ(´∇`)ノ
>>
My opinion is that this is a stupid question. Next!
>>
I don't know about all that philosophy stuff but I'm pretty sure real sex just feels better. I've never had it but I managed to reach the level of heavy petting with a girl and it was immediately more exhilarating that just fapping.

Anyway, its really funny how we keep circling around and having the same arguments year after year. I read this comic from 1990 (by Joe Matt), all about how he was a sex addict and he ordered away for a book from 'Sexaholics Anonymous', which reccomended that he stop fapping or his tastes would become more degenerate.
>>
i believe that sex is like masturbating but would feel 100 times better... ( ´ω`) would feel so good to cum in cute girl while she hold me

I did not expect this to be so controversial. But it is nice seeing that people cared about the friendship... Maybe I'll add a NSFW friends page with a disclaimer, I just don't want wapchan users to think we have the same kinds of rule sets just because we are friend sites, since I will try to push wapchan into a slightly more mainstream direction. It's always going to be a very niche site, but I want to position it as a modern successor to old anime shrine or fanpage kind of sites)

>>63639
I won't deny that I wrote that as an offhand comment, but I've also barely talked to him, even back when he did run this site. I just don't want to get wapchan tied up in future controversies, and everyone's corrected me on my interpretation of his lack of involvement.
>>63641
>>63642
>>63644
It's a shame you are taking it in this very negative way. I choose to run my site in a mostly SFW way, and heyuri chooses to run their site in a NSFW way. I'm sure we can still get along.
>>63646
The raid was dealt with a few hours after it happened, and I'm probably going to not even add the soyjak board because it has nothing to do with the site (I just entertained the idea once after some guy on soyjak party proposed it), and most of the new "users" have been disregarding site norms. And the site won't be sold.
>>63648
It's funny, but at the same time I hope there won't be some lingering cold war between wapchan and heyuri because of all of this. Maybe it's best if I pop into your next townhall and actually discuss this more.

I saw the "Would you be attracted to or replused by a woman who uses Heyuri" poll and I was wondering what your guy's reasoning was for your vote

Personally the main thing that attracted me about women is how naive and pure a lot of them are, and Heyuri is the opposite of that.

Newfag question but who's Usagi-chan?
>>

drawfag girl of about 16. Puerto Rican I think. Heyuri's most popular underage b& currently. She does works like this:https://wiki.heyuri.net/index.php?title=Oekaki#/media/File:1672601036072.png

(One thing to note is that she hasn't been seen around for a while, which is why you've probably never seen her. She said she was just busy IRL but I wonder if she has abandoned us (;´Д`))
>>
>>4799
you almost never see her on /b/ anymore but she'll make the occasional post on /sw/ just not very active.
feel like her inactivity on /b/ has to be due to a mixture of both her irl situation and her threads always getting hate in the replies lol.

That's one of the many ways u can spot Heyuri n00bs - when things were a certain way for many months/years, and OC-posting users like usagi were welcomed and celebrated, then all of a sudden a wave of "grrr i haet girls and 3DPD and normalfags and..." appears after Heyuri gets advertised all over 4chan (;^Д^)

I feel like I'm at a certain advantage not being a regular imageboard user before finding Heyuri. I mean, I'd looked around, and was conversant with the lingo and everything, but I found most imageboard culture just as off-putting and inane as social-media culture, but in a different way. So coming to Heyuri, I was kind of a blank slate, and easily accepted all sights and sounds without getting my panties in a twist or putting too much energy into saying 'you ruin Heyuri!!!
ヽ(`Д´)ノ to every post I personally didn't like.

(Plus I came around at a rather quiet time, well before any of the more recent growing pains, so I had a good view of 'Heyuri-in-action' from observing the behaviour of all the regulars.)

I am pretty sure it's just a random guy talking about himself. Here is a (rough) google translation of the second section, called "general conspiracy"

>for some reason, everything that lives on the expanses of the world wide web is somehow set against me. wherever I am, bans, kicks, mutes are flying in my direction from everywhere; my traces are being removed... What did I do to deserve such an attitude towards myself - it is not clear. everyone is probably jealous of me

I'm using Windows 10 (Yes, I know, throw stones at me.) and I already know all about how much they jump down your ass: (https://www.emsisoft.com/en/blog/18770/the-truth-about-windows-10-spying-on-almost-everything-you-do/)

But I've got this little thing in the corner telling me to 'Activate Windows'. If Windows is 'unactivated', does that mean I'm flying under the radar, or do they still have their hooks in me?

It's basically just a convenient pleb-friendly frontend for modifying certain registry entries and group policies (the official group policy editor isn't even available in Windows 10 Home edition, sasuga microsoft...)
