I'm watching Needy Girl Overdose too. I enjoyed the game, so I thought I'd check the anime out. So far it hasn't disappointed, I think it's very interesting and possibly my fave of the season.

I am also watching:
-Dr Stone. Last season. It doesn't feel like there are any stakes, but still kinda enjoyable.
-Liar Game. Almost dropped it, but I heard it gets good after the introduction.
-Baki. My guilty pleasure(;´Д`)

I also plan on watching Dandelion, it's a comedy by the guy who made Gintama

im surprised /a/ is liking needy girl, i watched the first episode and gtfo. it seemed like it was trying soooo hard to set itself apart, it seemed like it wanted to copy the form of like lain or evangelion or whatever other "deep" anime without actually having any substance other than "ZOMG THEE INTERNETS ARE BAD??!!"

Im currently watching kouri no jouheki, ganbare nakamura kun, akane banashi, and shunkashuutou daikousha. nakamura kun is by far my favorite, its so cute and the animation + music are great, i loved the manga so was super excited for the anime. akane banashi is good but just okay i think, it feels like it really just wants to be a powerscaling anime. kouri no jouheki im really enjoying, but i like pretty much all shoujo school romance.shunkashuutou daikousha is kinda seeming like itll be a soft drop, im not really looking forward to watching more... the tone is just kind of weird and i cant get over the weird filter they put over the whole thing, its crazy

Nah, the first was the second best so far, though the direction in episode two did feel tacky at times. The 4th episode was my favorite episode so far.
Also, I don't really think the message of the anime is gonna be "internet is bad".

We will watch Mahoromatic: Automatic Maiden (2001) on the next Saturday (18th), starting 18:00 UTC

It's about a troubled boy who lives alone unexpectedly meeting a meido andoroido girl who turns out to be battle-level powerful and wanting to spend the remaining of her limited lifespan with her. I meant to quickly remember some plot points but ended up rewatching the whole S1 before watching the movie for the first time. The movie was fun and seemingly important for the plot between two seasons, so I recommend watching it sometime :biggrin:

I was going to ask this to staff-san directly but I figured out a thread is better for preservation of knowledge

I used the below ffmpeg cmd script (created by AI) for some anime and it worked fine, but for the one I'm trying right now it placed the subtitle at wrong location and made the text very small for some reason. Probably because they are in some weird DVD-based format.

I do the transcodes 4 Heyuri Cytube. I use HandBrake, and the settings I generally use are:

Format
Format: MP4
Web optimized: enabled
Align A/V start: enabled
Passthru common metadata: enabled
Display size: automatic
Dimensions
Cropping: None
Resolution limit: 480p NTSC SD
Anamorphic: automatic
Optimal size: enabled
Filters
All off unless there's telecine/interlacing issues (typical on unaltered DVD rips) or too much noise (typical on BDs of cel era anime - noise is difficult to compress and bloats ur resulting file sizes, so it's best to smooth it out while trying to retain as much of the actual content detail as possible). Filters drastically slow down the whole process so I prefer to avoid them

Video encoder: H.264
Framerate: Same as source, variable framerate
Color range: Same as source
Encoder options
Encoder preset: Slow (depends on how l33t ur CPU is and how long u can tolerate - the slower it is, the better job it does of compressing, but there is a point of diminishing returns)
Encoder tune: Animation (fast decode disabled)
Encoder profile: Main
Encoder level: 3.1

When I encode something with complex fancy font subtitles I use these ffmpeg settings
-i inputfile -map 0 (other settings) -c:s copy -map 0:t? output.mkv
so for a real example these are my settings to compress a HUGE 25+GB anime down to only 2.3gb 

-map 0 -c:v libx265 -preset medium -crf 22 -tune animation -vf "scale=-2:720:force_original_aspect_ratio=decrease" -c:a aac -b:a 448k -ar 48000 -c:s copy -map 0:t?

audio bitrate should be lower but this anime had good music and was coming from a flac source so 448 is like 99.9% identical quality. dual audio would be more complicated, you could just copy the audio streams if it isn't flac which is HEUGE
preset slow will make the file slightly bigger but a lot better quality
also you gotta use mkv because it is one of the only containers that let you keep the complex subs
h264 is way better for compatibility though
