It's... a rule to see if you consider a show worth continuing with - nothing to do with attention span. There's no reason to waste your time continuing with a show that isn't doing it for you after 3 episodes - and if it does do it for you, obviously you're gonna stick with it :unsure:

Is contemporary manga black and white out of japanese cultural inertia? Seems like it would be relatively simple to colorize it, but it doesn't seem too popular for some reason.

i think OP meant simple flat colors, which totally does not make superman or batman comic back then any shorter. Some black and whites end up bein shorter anyway.

Thus the answer is not the cultural inertia, it's ...the publisher's budget...since black and white is considered cheap nowadays regardless of whatever is going on.

Actually mangakas have to draw 20 pages a week.

Also manga coloring isn't always good. Even when it's, not everyone might like it.
But with black & white your imagination creates the best version.

It seems like a stressful juggling act figuring out the composition of each panel individually and in relation to the whole, together with navigating the contours of the story as it unfolds onto the page all within such a strict time limit. Guess you have to be really dedicated to do it.

Black and white is cheaper to print and quicker to produce, and lends its own sort of style to a work that colour can't really do. As the anon above this post said, there's a specific allure to black and white.

Flat colours, like how old comic books were done, really don't look good. Not saying it can't -- Watchmen's colouring, (pic related, as an example) for instance, I would say is one of the comic's biggest strengths because of how it uses colours to create atmosphere, but most of the time it isn't done with this level of deliberateness and care.

they might be cheaper, but the non-standard PUPs like L-size and SP brand have much a higher quality to them than the regular ones

What should I read next?
I mostly enjoy slice of life, romance, comedy, school life, and sports manga, but im not opposed to something like magical girls or action generally. Shoujo, josei, shounen, seinen are all fine but nothing overly complicated or difficult because im reading in Japanese.

ive been reading a manga called wind up tina, its very cuet. theres a frog girl named kaeru hime ヽ(´∇`)ノ its about a world where everything is wind-up, but then a traveler who doesnt have a wind up key shows up. its pretty simple still though.

theres also the mahoujin guru guru mangas, and chibi maruko-chan. and kero kero chime. a lot of ribon mascot comics are very good. theres also mato-chan which is a little odd slice of life about a loli who LOVES bugs ヽ(´∇`)ノ ! and theres a sequal called chiro-chan

all of these shouldnt be too hard, especially stuff from ribon mascot comics as i think a lot of those have furigana (ﾟー｀)

Did we get MahoAko full-show decensor redraw yet, with each frame and angle carefully edited to include proper cleft of venus (teh manko) when it's required, and if no, why? We live in the fucking AI era now so we can have not just 2 minutes of it, but the entire fucking show, with teh human doing like only teh video montage part of teh work.

here to ask about a show again. does anyone here know about the show miracle! mimika ? there is nothing on nyaa.si and the only listing i can find of the first DVD (on mercari) is over 200,000 yen. any other information is highly appreciated too, i plan to put all of this on a fansite for animes i like.

it seems to have some corralation to the tv show cookin' idol ai! mai! main!, miracle! mimika aired from 2006 to 2009 while ai! mai! main! aired from 2009 to 2013, both are cooking shows broadcasted on NHK educational that features a loli learning how to cook, and some live action of the cooking.

on another note, if anyone knows if episodes of ai! mai! main! past episode 150 is available somewhere, id love to know. according to someone on MAL there wasnt DVDs past episode 150, but its possible there could be some tv recordings? its a little weird how they didnt make DVDs when they introduced the new cooking loli in the series.
