Do you like Shoujo, or do you think it’s too rom-comy? I’ve been reading Chibi Vampire recently, the concept is badly explained (bc it makes no sense) but it’s still pretty funny  I’ve also been wanting to read Shugo Chara, but haven’t gotten around to it..

I'm a hueg fan of romcoms in general, and many of my all-time favorite anime/manga are shoujo & josei works

Chibi Vampire was actually published in a shounen magazine, not shoujo... but teh anime is freaking hilarious so I recommend it anyway :xd:

Seriously? That's surprising, it feels very shoujo to me. Should've looked it up first lol, I just bought the first few volumes randomly and didn't look into it past that :dizzy:

UPDATE: I have (mostly) finished the skirt! You would not believe how much of a pain in the butt it was to hem a semicircle. It's too small to fit in the sewing machine as well =(.

My thoughts:

-Even though the skirt seems to "poof" too much on its own, once paired with the blouse it looks better. Possibly useful to iron it to reduce creasing?
-I still have no idea how to get the skirt to stay up without elastics or belts. Originally I wanted to use buttons and eyeholes, but I actually have no clue how it would even work.
-Skipped the part where I hemmed the blouse (it was too annoying and I'll do it later)
-Next step is to make a waistband and some comically oversized bows =DD.

Originally I started this project because I wanted a cool figure toy of a character (because nobody was selling one at the time), but last week I found out that the production company plans to release a figure by February next year. It's not the exact model as the one I have planned, and it's a static figure like a sega prize instead of a poseable
one like a figma.

I've already preordered one and some other merchandise coming next year! Hopefully I'll finish the full size dress by then =).

Does anyone have recommendations on how to solve the skirt issue?

Also was here for the first auto-sage thread on /j/! Truly a historic moment =D!

are you following a pattern for the skirt? it probably is flairing too much because of the semi circle. check the way a real a line skirt is sewn, the curve is rather shallow. i usually use buttons when fastening skirts but you could also use hooks or a zipper. it looks pretty good though

>are you following a pattern for the skirt? it probably is flairing too much because of the semi circle.
I used a semicircle because I wanted it to flare out, but I didn't think it would be that much! I'm drafting my own patterns for this, and narrowed down my choices to a full circle skirt or a 3/4 circle skirt (1/2 or 1/4 doesn't give enough poofiness). There's also the fact that the fabric I used is stiffer than I thought.

>i usually use buttons when fastening skirts but you could also use hooks or a zipper.
Hooks and zippers are out since the skirt itself is too small (the semicircle pattern has a diameter of 11 cm and a waist diameter of 5 cm). I'm not exactly sure how buttons would work: for context, the skirt is made up of two semicircles sewn together, with a hole where the waist is. There are only two seams, one on each side. I am guessing you're referring to the way jeans or shorts are buttoned up? Really not sure how to fit it in.

Oh well, that's a problem for future me!

>it looks pretty good though

What's the point of learning an artificial language when actually used by real people languages exist.

There are reasons, but it depends on which one you're learning. The biggest one is that artificial languages are almost universally easier than natural ones, unless deliberately designed to not be.

Esperanto failed (admittedly, if you look at the historical record, there was a lot of deliberate effort to kill it), but has a large userbase and is relatively easy to pick up. You'll end up talking with other language nerds if you're into Esperanto, too.
Interlingua is useful if you want to pick up a generic Romance language (and thus you'll also actually be able to use it in real life because it is explicitly designed to be intelligible by speakers of a lot of languages). It is also supposed to be quite easy, and you could branch off into learning a specific real Romance language from it. Unfortunately, the number of outright Interlingua speakers is fairly low, so you might not be able to to easily understand any responses you get when speaking it to say, a Spaniard or an Italian. Same shit applies to Interslavic, which is a constructed generic Slavic language and has similar design goals for people traveling in that area of the world.
Toki Pona is tiny (maybe like 140 words right now) and you can pick it up in like 2 months if you're rushing. It is definitely deeply flawed for general communication (some of the flaws are by design, annoyingly enough and could easily be fixed), but not totally without merit. It has a high userbase by conlang standards (not many people), but most users are terrible at it because they "know" it rather than actually know it and when you try to understand them, you realize they never actually did learn the grammar (which is admittedly a bit too simple and completely lacks any kind of guide rails). It is a great first step in a language learning journey though, because it exposes the user to a lot of concepts about how another language could work while also not needing significant effort to learn.

tl;dr:
shit's easier lol
