>> 21/02/05(Fri)7:05:58pm No. 2583 >>2581 >i would be interested in hearing your take on the new "tips" page which contains a ton more information about heyuri-specific ettiquite Overall I think it's a little too on the "Serious Business" side, and all the "Do not"s make them sound more like commandments than tips/guidelines. THOU SHALT NOT MISUSE SAGERU!>#2 While it's ultimately a pointless endeavor, I don't think there's anything wrong with someone using sage in a reply or two to express their disapproval of a given thread/topic, especially if it's being made a couple of days after the previous reply (as was the case above) It's only a problem when they're being a fucktard about it (such as flaming/trolling threads that are perfectly on-topic and relevant to the board just to rile other users up), or they start sagebombing like crazy in order to make threads prematurely hit the bump limit (thus hastening the process in which a thread falls off the last page and gets deleted... except we don't have bump limits or limited pages on Heyuri, so it's pointless! ) Going the whole "STFU AND KILL YOURSELF NEWFAG, LURK MORE FAGGOT, YOU'RE THE C@NCER KILLING /baard/ " route almost always does more damage to a thread (and the board as a whole) than one person making a single, easily ignorable "I do not like this topic and the world must know about it, TIME FOR SAGE!" post. Even if someone is genuinely trolling, ancient wisdoms decree that you should never under any circumstances feed the trolls - your rage only gives them teh b0ner, and moar reason to continue trolling!>#6 I don't disagree with it - I don't care if someone uses a tripcode here or not, and I like seeing new faces appear and old faces come back to visit. Tripcodes have always been used in a blasé fashion here anyway, with new ones cropping up on a daily basis at one point (many never to be seen again... ) That said, I wouldn't want cliques forming that are in some way seperated from the rest of the users - for instance, if they have an off-site board/IRC/dicksword they like to hole up in to bicker about the other users behind their backs, or coordinate lame operations against the other users. Whenever that happens, mistrust starts setting in, the community gets divided into warring factions, and shit goes awry fast >it also seems whoever wrote that (k♡♡z, im assuming) has some sort of thing against shii As written about earlier in the thread, Shii was the guy who - among such feats as "pretending to be a girl on the internet" and "innappropriately touching everyone's little sister" (dude, not cool!) - pioneered the whole "Anonymous" movement in the West and pushed the concept on to 4chan. Some newbies find that hard to believe, but you can go watch the old 4chan Otakon panels and you'll hear it from m00t's own mouth>not sure what "nanashi" is or why its bullshit.. but anyway Nanashi (名無し) is the Japanese word for "nameless", and many anonymous BBSes and imageboards (particularly 2channel/5channel) incorporate it into the default names. Sometimes they'll use or refer to themselves as something completely different though, like Nijiura's "Toshiaki" or /news4vip/'s "VIPPER" I wouldn't necessarily say "Anonymous"/"Nanashi" as a collective is complete bullshit - it (sometimes) brings about some amazing things, and also (sometimes!) serves a powerful anti-establishment tool. It's just that it's also an incredibly uncontrollable and destructive force, one that rarely works out well for long, fails more times than it doesn't, and many involved get overly religious about the whole thing They get stuck in a loop where they're constantly trying to whip each other into adopting an increasingly unattainable and unrealistic "Anonymous" ideal, and before you know it, they're just complaining about everyone and everything all the time without ever bringing about anything positive or productive (and I should know - that was me a few years ago!) Rather than using the internet to have fun, learn new things, or create/share stuff, "Anonymous" diehards (like my past self) often partake in a whole lot of Serious Business and moralfagging instead. That can be useful at times, and I don't necessarily look down on those that wish to continue partaking in that stuff if that's what's important to them - but for me it's all become too draining and depressing I think that's much of why I've been so drawn to Heyuri ever since I found it - nobody gives a crap how hardc0re of an "Anon" you are, and all the dumb requirements and conventions that have been adopted over the past decade and a half have been thrown out the window. All you need to do here is show up, be down for some fun, take ur b&hammer like a man, and not take the internet so seriously!!
