I once tried playing touhou, but it's so hard(;´Д`) I suck terribly at shoot em ups. If I tried I could probably get good at them, but it just requires so much time that I honestly prefer spending in other ways.（ ´_ゝ`）

Does Touhou even have OCs? For the most part people use established characters from the games and manga in their fanworks, they just change their personalities. There maybe some OCs here and there, but Touhou isn't really the type of fandom to have OCs, weirdly enought, since similar and adjacent fandoms do have them

This is something I wonder about. Some works seem to be total OC factories, meanwhile others see hardly any. Is there something above the premise that attracts OCs? Maybe the writing?

My theory is that stories without many OCs tend to have strong characters (even just strongly designed) who are too interesting in their own right for people to bother with OCs, meanwhile OC factory feature more 'blank slate' characters but have a highly adaptable premise.
