Your fortune: Dark times are to come

mai friend was playing sonic 3 and he said it wasnt very fun. might be a controversial opinion but sonic games arent very fun. Tails is cute though
>>
for some reason i always adored how this game looked when i was a child, and i still really like it to this day, level one that is... never got further than that (´~`)

i also liked Sonic 3D Blast... i have more fond "memories" when thinking about these two than i do with the main games which i played way more... man i'm fucked in the head.

finally made the switch, eh?

i think Sonic 3 is the most fun out of the trilogy, but i never understood the actual obsession people have for them (not including autists. I'm referring to the actual games, not the characters), i thought they were fun but never to the point i'd get obsessed with them ┐(゚~゚)┌.
i just want to go fast, but they designed the stages so that they would constantly stop you in the most bullshit ways possible... never understood that. Do they expect you to memorize all stages so that you can dodge all the BS and actually run for more than 10 seconds in the Sonic game???

Sonic was never that amazing. The switch to 3D didn't kill the IP (completely) because it survived solely on autism and visuals.

there are like two Sonic games that actually get in the player's way:
Sonic CD, because of the time travel mechanic, stages have very start-stop layouts entirely to get in the way of time travel
and Sonic 1, because they didn't know shit about shit since it was the very first game, and even then it was because of the idea they had where there would be a slow level after each fast level; you can actually avoid a lot of waiting in Marble, but Labyrinth is some horseshit, and Spring Yard has those fucking elevators
I like Scrap Brain's first two acts, but it is a slower level, if not as slow as Marble or Labyrinth

anyone who says Sonic is about getting stopped every 10 seconds is not particularly good at Sonic games ┐(゚~゚)┌
although I guess the real issue with the franchise is that it basically never demands mastery, it's incredibly easy to bumble your way through each level and make it to the end of the game with how forgiving it is (・∀・)

like, I am reminded that Sonic 1's arcade release is probably the best way to play that game - it still has Spring Yard and the shitty elevators, but it strips out Marble, Labyrinth, and the bit of Scrap Brain that is just Labyrinth again, and it also adds a time limit to each level so you have to actually attempt learn how to go fast (the 10 minute time limit only ever comes up for people in two other levels in the whole of the Genesis era games, Carnival Night act 2 and Sandopolis act 2 in S3&K) - it's not a super strict time limit, but it means you don't get to be bad ( ´ω`)

spinball is a neat idea but it's not very good
even as a kid, it felt very B-team
