I deeply miss the crafty and niche aspect of otaku culture, subcultures that arent mainstream, maybe offensive, and a focus around the creative aspects of otaku culture as well. It was truly a spirit that came from the heart and wasnt afraid about being socially acceptable. (´ー` )

Nowadays its all sanitized, and consumer oriented, rarely do i hear about people making things.
In the early days of otaku culture people made a lot of things themselves, because merch simply wasnt available - figures for example, dojin games, etc.

How on earth do you facilitate the desire for people to create that kind of environment, i think the demand is there but not enough people know what to DO, how to MAKE things, how to form communities centered around niche subjects, how do we fix that?

After watching a few spring season shows, I think mono is my favorite. It is an adaptation of another work by Yuru Camp mangaka. There is a similar vibe, but in my opinion the girls are much, much cuter!

and a handful of more normal audiences might have referenced shit like Kamina's shades or ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWAH

honestly, it's still a fucking great show so like go watch it anyway
maybe not quite as 11/10 perfect as I thought it was all those years ago, but fuck man, even among the sort who were like "lol Getter Robo ripoff" - you could do much worse than ripoff something as cool as Getter and do it well :cool:
it is an 8/10 at its worst (apart from the one episode where everything is off model and backgrounds were too much effort to draw :biggrin: )

Not really. TTGL blew CG out of the water when it came to exposure. CG only really became popular in anime circles in Season 2. When the last episode of Season 1 of CG aired, everyone on /a/ was talking about how hot they thought post-skip Nia was.
