Sup /b/, I maed a map for Doom II, I call it "Castle of Thanatos!" It looks best in Crispy or Chocolate Doom. I might make some more tweaks to it, so feedback is appreciated. https://limewire.com/d/c04f2566-8a73-490f-9698-abe9e925a992#HT5hRskiIobakUOqR69WId7QNTITLQkbRbK-HAhxnfYMarked for deletion (Old)
why didn't you upload it here lolwe have an uploaderhttps://up.heyuri.net/
upload it to up.heyuri.net and i'll play it ( ´ω`)
I'll give it a try at some point.not right now, I'm going to bedalso boy, I should get back into map making, it has been a long time since I've fired up Doom Builder
>>131697I've been here since 2021 and I didn't know we had that lol. Anyway, it's up there if you want to check it out. >>131709I'll play your wad if you make one too!
play'd using gzdoom.can't provide any feedback/commentary other than i had fun with it at least ヽ(´ー`)ノ
I think it's alright, for an amateur
>>131716>>131734Thx guys. I made it having done very little research into map-making, I only learned the basics of using the program. But now I'm making another one while following John Romero's eight rules of level design.
very nice map, i like it!
>>131745ty anon ( ´ω`)
>But now I'm making another one while following John Romero's eight rules of level design.ganbarimasu!
I worked hard on my upcoming wad today. ヽ(´∇`)ノ
キタ━━━(゚∀゚)━━━!!
I've been careful to follow Romero's rules, always changing floor height when changing floor textures, contrasting light and dark areas, open and tight areas. Also utilizing some border textures, although that's not a rule.
I even made a couch.
You guys should get into mapping Doom, with modern software, it's something anyone can do. I'm using Eureka cuz it runs native on Linux, but DoomBuilder is even easier.
>>131861That's a snazzy looking apartment.Looking forward to the final release ヽ(´∇`)ノ
You should use custom textures and make a Heyuri-tan shrine
>>131865Sadly, I cannot use SLADE to create custom textures because it doesn't work on my PC. ヽ(´ー`)ノIf anyone wants to add textures for me and save them into a wad, I'd be happy to utilize them.
Holy shit, I got SLADE working and I added Miu to test it out! She's uh... not looking so good though. You could post any random image of Heyuri-tan and I'll try to add it, but it might not look good. I think if you want something better you'll have to make your own graphics for it (I would, if I knew how). If anyone can make some pixel art that is 128x128 pixels in png format, and not too colorful, it might work.
>>131872Oh well never mind, I found this on the wiki and it works! But if you guys want to make stuff for my wad, that would be really cool.
>Holy shit, I got SLADE working and I added Miu to test it out! She's uh... not looking so good though.is this what miu looks like when she goes to hell? (;゚Д゚)
Heyuri-tan shrine has been implemented! It's a secret area. I'll upload teh wad so you guys can hunt for it. >>131875It would seem so, but Heyuri-tan is tough enough to handle it.
>I'll upload teh wad so you guys can hunt for it.found it
>>131880your winrar!!
Hey does anyone know how to convert images so they are 8-bit/have 256 colors? That would be the reason Miu looked so scuffed.I want to add some anime posters as textures and make an otaku den in the apartment area of my map.
>>131896Never mind, I think I found a way...
>>131896>>131897I think that paint.net lets you save your pictures as 8-bit pngs...
>>131896gimpset the image mode to indexed
why would you even use some proprietary crapware like paint.net? GIMP FTW
>>131878found it :D
>>132035Good job anon! Anyway, when are we all gonna play Doom together?
>Anyway, when are we all gonna play Doom together?when someone (which can be anyone) hosts it.organizing it would go sumthing liek:- arrange a server for teh game (should be simple with doom?)- create a thread for it with a date, preferably enough time for people to prepare- make sure to include instructions on how 2 install the client and connect to the server- hope for win ヽ(´ー`)ノ
>>132124Well it looks like the OP from the game night thread abandoned us so I guess I'll organize one. I'm on EST and a good time for me would be between 5-10 pm. Does that work for the both of you?
Also I added a Sailor Moon poster to teh wad.
>Well it looks like the OP from the game night thread abandoned usi don't think so, i think no one went forward to set a date + host a game>I'm on EST and a good time for me would be between 5-10 pm. Does that work for the both of you?works for me. but i'd suggest picking a date as well
>Well it looks like the OP from the game night thread abandoned usI'm here, but the thread hit the age limit Besides I just threw teh idea, I can't host myself. I'll make the necessary announcements once the date is clear>I'm on EST and a good time for me would be between 5-10 pmI think the best time is around the time we hold Cytube streams (morning~noon in US, evening~night in EU), ideally on a weekend/holiday.And again, there should be a time to announce it because a lot of Heyuri users don't check the site daily to notice the event. I think this Sunday is earliest we should play, and the next weekend would be the best (but we'll probably have a Cytube stream on the weekend of 22th).
>>132129Well Saturday morning works for me up to you guys I guess.
>Well Saturday morning works for me up to you guys I guess.Would 18UTC (13EST) of 15 February werk? Could be 1 or 2 hours later if the gaem is short, or earlier if the it's long and (moar importantly) users can join during any part of the game.
>>132133Works for me. If we're playing Doom people will need to use the Crispy Doom source port, as Zandronum was giving me problems. For Windows users: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/67168-crispy-doom-70-update-aug-09-2024/For Linux users:>sudo apt install crispy-doomin terminal, or install via the software manager. Download the Doom iwads: https://github.com/Gaytes/iwadOnce everyone has the game, playing is as easy as running Crispy-Setup and joining the server, which I will host. Note that you can unlock the frame rate in Crispy Doom to make it nice and smooth.
>Binaries for Windows (x64) are available here:>https://github.com/fabiangreffrath/crispy-doom/releases/download/crispy-doom-7.0/crispy-doom-7.0.0-win64.zip>https://github.com/fabiangreffrath/crispy-doom/releases/download/crispy-doom-7.0/crispy-heretic-7.0.0-win64.zip>https://github.com/fabiangreffrath/crispy-doom/releases/download/crispy-doom-7.0/crispy-hexen-7.0.0-win64.zip>https://github.com/fabiangreffrath/crispy-doom/releases/download/crispy-doom-7.0/crispy-strife-7.0.0-win64.zipnevar played doom before, I am confused which version(?) and iwads(???) to set up
>>132138>which version(?)Crispy Doom, the first one. The others are for different games that also run on the Doom engine. Crispy Doom is a port that you to run Doom on modern hardware, so you don't have to run the game in DOS/DOSBox. It also makes a few tweaks to make it more enjoyable. For example, you can rebind the controls so that you can look left and right using the mouse, and move with WASD. (Run Crispy-Setup to do this.) >and iwads(???)Iwads are the game's files, its code, graphics, and everything else that the port needs to run. Download the ones for The Ultimate Doom, Doom II, Plutonia and TNT. Put these in the folder where you installed Crispy Doom.
Implemented the otaku den. キタ━━━(・∀・)━━━!!The wad is more or less complete. I might tweak the difficulty settings a bit more, but that's it. If anyone would like to play it and give me feedback on the difficulty, I would greatly appreciate it. ( ´ω`)

>Iwads are the game's files, its code, graphics, and everything else that the port needs to run. Download the ones for The Ultimate Doom, Doom II, Plutonia and TNT. Put these in the folder where you installed Crispy Doom.I think there should just be a zip where these come pre installed. Explaining and expecting users to follow through these steps seem hard when they can just download a zip & unzip it and start teh gaem
>>132211if 12 year old me was able to figure this shit out then anyone could anon
>>132214>>132211Though here it is with all those 4 wads preinstalled for convenience sake anyway.Very tempted to put extra weird stuff in here but I decided to keep it clean instead. https://up.heyuri.net/src/4203.7z
>>132215thx. i'd be too lazy to do it all manually ( ´ω`)
>>132126after some haxxor doxxed me on the irc i played this on a brand new user, most set the most restrictive permissions possible, even learned about umask and other things to make sure you didnt tamper with teh wad to steal my cute and funny images, inspected the wad with slade before opening it and i have to say...it's pretty good, but i expected more lolii found only 2 secrets
Hey guys, sorry I'm late, Heyuri was down when I came earlier and I got distracted editing my wad. If you guys still want to Doom, I'm down to clown. >>132289Thanks anon. I'm sorry you got doxxed and I'm honored you would go to such lengths just to play my wad. There are two secrets behind the two Sailor Moon posters, and one behind the wall with a hole in it in the first floor hallway. If you haven't found the Heyuri-tan shrine, I won't give that one away, you'll just have to look harder. I've tweaked the difficulty a bit and will be uploading an even better version soon!
>>132136I'll create teh thread for 18UTC (13EST) of 15 February (next saturday around these times) & put announcements if you can confirm it still works for u ヽ(´ー`)ノ
>>132294Sounds good.
shoot the black nigger!
