I just followed the tutorial there, copying as best I could.
PaintBBS NEO doesn't have the tools for it really, so it's a mess, but pretty much anyone could get these results. I genuinely don't know how to do landscapes, I just followed what he did, and with a mouse.
the tutorial is in the vein of Bob Ross, whose entire thing was showing people how to get nice results with easy techniques

...and then it got nuked for some reason.
wasn't going to make the explosion so big but it looked cool and dramatic
might do another attempt with a smaller one so less of the scene is obscured by the blast
