Now that's a lame rule tbh if you can't get through 12 episodes which is most anime your attention span is dog shit.

I binged all episodes of Umaru season 1 and Watamote in a single day back in 2017 only took a few hours.

It's... a rule to see if you consider a show worth continuing with - nothing to do with attention span. There's no reason to waste your time continuing with a show that isn't doing it for you after 3 episodes - and if it does do it for you, obviously you're gonna stick with it :unsure:

A few days of nofap and I started having dreams again. I was watching some new movie, except that I don't recall characters. It was an interesting space opera, set in the skies of some planet with lots of references to Chinese ornamentation. The image was beautiful, vivid, and colorful. I remember complaining that the plot had no coherent goal, but it was all very exciting.

I am not sure how much I watched on the screen and how much I participated in. It felt like I was jumping between perspectives. When I was a viewer, I was sitting next to my old classmate. I always thought of her as a girlish ideal. I bet The Enchanter I read before bed played a lot in her appearance. We embraced throughout the seance, my hand on her breast, my lips on her neck and shoulders. Her hand on my sex.

Then someone lightly kissed her - a guy I wronged long ago in real life. In the dream I was considering whether to beat him up, as I could overpower him easily. But I also had this confidence that she is so tightly mine, that it was hard to even fake jealousy.

In the dream there was also a subplot where I gave someone my money without counting it. That person used it for an undisclosed deal and promised to return it soon, but there was also the question of how much exactly. It's a plain lesson.

In the last dream I had, I was panicking over trying and failing to return an overdue library book. I think it relates to the subconscious anxiousness inherent in modern life. Or that I'm forgetting something.

The library was really cool, though. Like, this massive interconnected university-campus thing with an old-fashioned interior design.

i think OP meant simple flat colors, which totally does not make superman or batman comic back then any shorter. Some black and whites end up bein shorter anyway.

Thus the answer is not the cultural inertia, it's ...the publisher's budget...since black and white is considered cheap nowadays regardless of whatever is going on.

Actually mangakas have to draw 20 pages a week.

Also manga coloring isn't always good. Even when it's, not everyone might like it.
But with black & white your imagination creates the best version.

It seems like a stressful juggling act figuring out the composition of each panel individually and in relation to the whole, together with navigating the contours of the story as it unfolds onto the page all within such a strict time limit. Guess you have to be really dedicated to do it.

Flat colours, like how old comic books were done, really don't look good. Not saying it can't -- Watchmen's colouring, (pic related, as an example) for instance, I would say is one of the comic's biggest strengths because of how it uses colours to create atmosphere, but most of the time it isn't done with this level of deliberateness and care.
