ENCRYPTING MESSAGES
Hi Heyuri!

I got to talk about tech recently with people who did not get to experience technology and were completely trained into submission of companies. They do not know that anything that you can imagine and describe as maths - you can do on the computer, no exceptions.

People don't like being spied on. There is a solution to have messages even sent publically in a way that only people you mean to read can read them! You can post anything even through gmail, whatsapp, dicksword and related in a way that not even these companies can know the contents! The same thing can be done with files, and any transfer imaginable.

I present encryption.

It is easy. The only real additional twist of sending messages this way is pressing an encrypt/decrypt button on top of copy/paste (unless you completely automate it).

I use Kleopatra to manage my keys and messages, it has a graphical interface. Perfect for anyone. You can install a pack of tools including Kleopatra for Windows here.

Consider watching that video to simply learn that encryption requires no brain and does wonders for whenever you need it!

You are not only able to obfuscate messages this way only for people who you mean to read them, you can also verify your identity. It is called a signature. Signature works everywhere, even offline because it is purely mathematical and maths does not require internet connection. Obviously it is your self-proclaimed identity (no regsitering anything, you can append Anonymous if you wish). You can generate a working key pair even offline that without fail will always work, you can verify and decrypt everything offline. You can also encrypt your message/file with a password if you don't want to attach keys.

You could technically even print out encrypted messages or even write them by hand in real life having never had any internet connection and they would still work. If you were so stubborn you could even use paper and calculator to get a key pair and write by hand the message, then do the reverse to read incoming messages. Extremely flexible!

If I understand correctly the maths behind it goes like this
You make a private key that you should never share, and you make a public key that you can give away all you want.

So, has anyone seen this? Last episode aired yesterday.

For me, it's one of those few works which themes have penetrated my heart and message has infiltrated my mind. I think it's really sublime. Every episode has brought me to tears, I'll always carry this anime in my heart.

It's a short story, only 6 episodes long, about life's hardships and the power of empathy. It follows the alien Takopii, who has just landed on Earth, and its mission to spread happiness in the universe. He meets Shizuka, a sad little girl who is bullied at school. Takopii will try to make Shizuka smile, but he still has a lot to learn about humans.

The anime dives into the minds of 3 children who suffer from abuse/trauma and explores themes such as generational trauma, bullism and the effects that a negative environment has on a child's mind, the power of talking, understanding the other and lastly, resilience.

Not only it is a great story, but it's also a beautiful anime. Directing, illustrations, animation, soundtrack and voice acting are all top notch, it's a truly highest-quality adaptation. Speaking of voice acting, Shizuka's VA deserves a standing ovation, never before has a Japanese VA in anime managed to send shivers down my spine like she did.

In short, I think it's a masterpiece and you should watch it.

Great Recommendation, Anon~pi!

I just read the manga rather than watch the anime but I will try watching the anime next.
My thoughts in spoilers It's a sweeter story then I was expecting. I absolutely thought the happy space alien would simply fail over and over again and it would be some grim dark comedy. However as I read it seems the story did have a positive message to say after all. And it's a really good one. The three children's lives were never going to be solved with happy gadgets and nick-nacks but rather the most powerful gadget of all which is talking~pi! Talking allows two individuals to connect with each other and start to empathize. Which was never going to happen with the way the two girls interacted with each other.
It wasn't the space alien so much that solved their issue but it was both girls realizing that they needed someone (not a dog) to support them and surprisingly it was their enemy the whole time~pi!

That's what I meant when I said that it's about the power of empathy! Takopii never actually empathized with any of the kids until the last episode. He saw the world in black and white (Shizuka is bad, Marina is bad), and only thought about helping, without actually understanding the problems that Shizuka, Marina or Azuma were facing. Takopii represents innocence and naivety. At the start, he's as naive as Marina and Shizuka. But unlike them, he gets the chance to see other point of views, and he begins to truly understand their struggles.

Shizuka's monologue in the last episode is simply great. For the first time, she opens up and lets out her emotions, getting out of the fortress she built around her heart and making herself vulnerable. Takopii listens to her, understands her, and despite not having a magic gadget to fix everything (no such things exist! After all, magic isn't real) and not knowing what to do to help her, he's willing to be there for Shizuka and support her. By spending time with her, he realizes that talking and connecting with someone is the real magic. Azuma had the luck of having a good and kind brother, but Shizuka and Marina were truly alone with their horrible familiar problems. Takopii's simple act of empathy of being there for someone echoed through Marina's and Shizuka's minds, who also begin to see each other's point of view. At the end, they're walking together. Not necessarily because they became friends, but because they understand each other, because they empathize with each other and are willing to support each other.

Even if their situations are still horrible, at least they're not completely alone anymore, and that makes everything a lot easier

This is no doubt one of my favorite anime of all time.

The copying of media dates pretty far back, though before it wasn't always wrong to do. Since the first copyright law, things have changed to call it 'Theft', and while it has a similar harm to it. It doesn't hit the definition.

Copying by itself is not wrong. if someone copies my laptop's specs and OS. It doesn't harm me at all. If they copied my data as well, now it's wrong. If I was intending to sell my laptop (deprived of all my data) and someone copies it then it's annoying but I can still sell it to the next guy. But if said copier, copies it for everyone then my laptop is worthless. Though it never left my hands, I was deprived of its value much like theft.

Externality seems to describe it best. The individual never directly touched anything and never had malicious intent however I was affected by their actions.
'Copying with negative externality' doesn't really roll off the tongue very well though. Is there a better term for this?

To layer on the question further, is ai scraping the artstyle of an artist negative externality? A friend of mine trained an ai model to near perfectly mimic his chosen artist's style. He used to commission and give money but now he doesn't have to, now he can print away his anime waifu without waiting, without needing to go back and forth with artist to get the character just right and for free! (well he's paying for servers so not quite free). Even worse damage if he releases this model online to others.

What do you think anons? What kind of seven seas have you plundered in your years?
Is it wrong to copy files and artstyles? In basic morality it harms another. Admitting-ly I do it all time for movies and games.

I justify my piracy by asking myself "if I was the artist, how would I feel if someone downloaded my content without paying for it?" I've made art before, and I've never made art with the intention of profiting from it. I'm just happy when other people enjoy it. ヽ(´ー｀)ノ

Now, if someone took my art and fed it into a machine that bastardized it, but it was for their own purposes, I don't think I'd care either. If they made profits doing it, ripping off my art and selling it, then that definitely would upset me.

So yeah I do hope OpenAI and other AI companies do get fucked in the ass legally over the AI copyright question. But I'm glad we can still torrent movies without too much trouble.

Listen sometimes theres these weird little guys, lets call them goblins

First theres the Localizer goblin. they like to take media from other countries, and change the material, and then attempt to sell it to you.
They like to scam you by altering the original works for whatever reasons (power rangers... jelly donut, anyone?)
The Localizer goblin thinks he knows whats best for you, he wants to control your thoughts and opinions by changing the messages of the media you consume.


Second, theres the other class of goblin, called the copyright goblin.

The copyright goblin loves to buy up the rights to foreign media, usually in package deals, and then sit on the material, and do nothing with it, while at the same time, viciously protect the rights they hold.

The copyright goblin revels in the fact that he can lock out (and effectively censor) entire series or movies, or even game franchises from your country just by signing a simple contract with a foreign publisher (who might have mistakenly thought the goblin wanted to honestly share the media with people, instead of hoard it).

anyone with creativity in their heart would never support fucked up little goblins like these.

Copyrights are made up and have no basis in reality

Theft cannot be committed unless:
1. Thief rids the owner of the thing
2. Thief acquires of the thing
If one is not true than theft is not true as copying does not rid anyone from anything. Copying is good for the author because someone else back it up free of charge.

The fact that authors get angry at their work being copied freely is because they are monopolistic autocrats that want to exclusively control the market without a merit, all who interfere with the market shall be fed lead at a high velocity.

They will assault the market, there is nothing more sacred than the market which is the purest reflection of liberty and needs of humans from which everything grows and without which nothing can grow*. Items on the market are human labour stored as physical items, currency is the standardised quantification of labour. If I do labour by copying and pasting information (like copyrighted material) and offering a service of copying and pasting it to client's drive cheaper than the original author then the market shall judge and decide who is a better source. No theft has been committed, no crime involved, no liberty violated, therefore fine.

If the author wants to charge exclusively then they should make it unfeasably hard like key-activation, or like money is hard to scan and reprint. Another solution is to never publish, or publish to people who of their own volition respect "copyrights" where it is safe, not to general public. Information is like genie - once you let it out - it won't go back to the jar! No author should be surprised that once they print a book - people do reprints and scans and quote it. For this reason I say no liberty violated, because writing/drawing and publishing is a choice.

*Market as a term for assigning value and fulfilling needs in general. External markets like shops, malls, global trade that consist of many humans regulate their needs on their respective level on an interpersonal level. There is something I call internal market; where you assign your priorities based on speculative profits! You for example assign value of your limited and time pick particular tasks among many possible to do based on their speculative value (fapping instead of having a job)!>>153713

To start off that means anybody can make an animation, video game, mascot, etc... of Mickey Mouse, call it official too and throw on the Disney signature.
Nothing stops them.
However because there's no law about copying digital work. No digital asset makes much money anymore. Other than exclusive live sharing of that digital media. Once it can be stored as a file, it can be shared.
It will be only the quality that will distinguish legitimate work from frauds.
Imagine that, every shared media will be like sharing on an anonymous imageboard. It's difficult to identify it as 'yours'.
Well... mind you things like internet accounts, websites and providers of such may make restrictions on names and signatures much like twitter handles or imageboard names.
So maybe it would work out just fine.
If it weren't for jerks we wouldn't need these laws anyway.
