Because that crappy phenomenon started in late 2009 and is mostly a 2010s thing - and even then, for the first few years or so it was almost entirely localized to /b/ and /v/, which were by far the most underageb& and AIDS-ridden boards on all of 4chan at that time

It got to the point where the underageb& were shitting up every single thread with dubs spam - moot was forced to introduce a filter that replaced the end of post numbers on /b/ with XXX (since disabled), and made it so post numbers ending in dubs or trips were skipped entirely on /v/ (still in effect as far as I'm aware)

So yeah, it's just one of the many phenomenon that developed during the downfall years of 2008-2014 (like roll threads, advice dogs, trollface and ragecomics, Boxxy, persistent general threads, /r9k/-style greentext stories/>tfw/>mfw/pepe/wojak, >implications and costanza/ISHYGDDT, /sp/-style image macros, /pol/ memes/culture, (You)s, template "smug anime girl" bait threads, etc.) that changed 4chan and Westerm imageboard culture beyond recognition

Heyuri is like a big CTRL+Z on all of that
