Because of the new internet laws, I propose that Heyuri has i2p/Tor mirrors similar to 8chan. This would be very useful in general privacy. Not to mention the strong /l/olikon culture of Heyuri has made it a target for a wide range of issues in the past, such as our old domain registar BAWWWWWWing about our love for a good loli. Having mirrors or a seperate domain would fix this issue altogether. Thoughts?

>mirrors or a seperate domain
It's a sensible thing to do, but right now we can hardly pay for the domains we already have :sweat2:

Thx 2 various users, there's https://cgi.heyuri.lol/ & https://cgi.yuisuki.net/ for the CGI site, https://ayashii.net/ (recently re-obtained?) for Strange World, and https://heyuri.lol/ as a general bunker - but there's not currently one for the main site AFAIK. During EPIK FAIL, we had a temporary bunker board on gurochan's domain, but that's hardly something we can rely on

>i2p/Tor mirrors
It would be nice in a perfect world, but we currently rely on IP bans to keep this place free of AIDS and other crap. The nature of things like Tor (and presumably I2P) make it trivial for attackers/trolls to circumvent IP bans - which certain Tor users do a lot when they're able to - so we've unfortunately had to try and block Tor as much as possible :dark:

A heyuri tor mirror doesnt have to allow posts! It would help people from countries where Heyuri is blocked, including Turkey. The admin is Turkish, and has to use a vpn to run his own site. But not every turk can pay a VPN, so I also support a read-only tor mirror

But what would be the point of only lurking without posting? Surely nobody just lurks on imageboards without posting, right?

It's technically difficult to make TOR read-only
We've already looked into blocking POST requests from TOR IPs at cloudflare level, but it has issues with the IPv6 protocol.
So we had to block all (most? it may still not be perfect, but should be enough to make it difficult enough for ban evaders to abuse) access from there

>The admin is Turkish, and has to use a vpn to run his own site
not rly, I do use a VPN most of the time for some other reasons, but for Turkey's case alone, most people who know to use TOR would know ways to bypass government block too :nyaoo-closedeyes:

Maybe we would look into implementing some software-level measures if there comes a time where anonymous imageboards are b& in the distant future.

might not be so distant

Teh distant future: Closer than ever!

Do not discount the iceberg reality of websites. 90% of users have never made a post. Consult the pie chart.

It might be a noob solution but what if heyuri additionally exported static html to the separate tor hosting directory? So the tor directory would be gutted of php. Regular web heyuri and tor heyuri would be effectively separate. If there is no php in the tor one (as it is copied static files) then posts can't be made as there is no mechanism to possibly be able to post. Which would make it effectively read only.

I tried to contribute.

I think tor would have a separate iptables rules. It might work.
