I've heard some people complain that Heyuri's memes and culture are too self-referential, but I really don't think that's a bad thing.
We're not trying to spread memes to the rest of the internet, that would ruin them and make them less special, it's important that Heyuri's culture remains unique to Heyuri.
What do you think?

metaness can go malignant, but it can't be helped since we're all here because we care more than almost anyone else about what kind of site we want to post on. it's kind of like how the really cliquey friendgroups in highschool only ever talk about their own social dynamics. i'd still like to see more threads about interests get the attention that the meta threads receive.

Perhaps we should move back to having various interest boards and an overboard.
It would encourage discussion of specific topics rather than just self-referential circlejerking about how Heyuri and Rule 8 are so great, while the inclusion of an overboard would stop the site from feeling too slow for people to want to stay.
