so now that summer is upon us, do you think there will be an influx of summerfags into heyuri? and how much validity does the "summerfag" theory really hold on the internet besides eternal september how many cases are there  were summer has really affected the state of a site

Well, going by this graph of last year's activity, apart from a spike in May, the site's activity definitely started to climb in the summer months.

Interestingly enough, I personally started browsing here in the summer of last year wink
>>
>>63922
Very valid on most sites, but that factoid mostly comes from the time where people didn't have smartphones with them 24/7, so they needed an extended period of time by which to browse the web out of boredom to land on something interesting (hence the influx). That said it stands to reason that this still works for much the same reason, because phone users will be stuck on skinner box systems instead of using the phone to browse even as they use it, so summer gives them an opportunity to do something else for once.

Are there up-to-date stats anywhere? I'm interested to see what it looks like so far this year.

Here are sum rough calculations for Off-Topic alone based on archived post numbers

Pretty cool. Interesting how there seems to be an uptick around christmas time, too.
>>
>Interesting how there seems to be an uptick around christmas time, too.
I'm attempting to make a longer version, with everything prior to the past 6 months being even rougher estimates (but close enough to get the general picture) since far less archives were made during the "dark age"

So far I've only worked back to October 2021, but December 2021 is the current lowest entry with only around 300 posts made to Off-Topic during the entire month (and falling from around 650 in November)

Heyuri's dark ages were dark, and proves that Christmas miracles are not guaranteed dark (and from what I remember, I think summer 2021 will also prove the same for "summerfags"!)

I think Heyuri is niche enough for summerfags to not be a large factor. how many school children could actually find their way onto here?

LADIES AND GENTLENOOBS, I PRESENT: AN CHART

Note #1: teh gap and negative number of posts between September and December 2020 were cuz Heyuri died due to hax & drama on September 6th, and the site was revived on December 4th using an archive made on August 17th - thus, the post numbers jumped backwards, which fux0rz the chart a little

Note #2: I manually reduced the number for October 2021 by 1000 since adminhax led to the 14KGET being immediately followed by the 15KGET
>>
I also been looking forward to see a chart! It's insane how much Heyuri has grown in such short time! We are about 4000 stable / post a month~

Now we can go home and take a long break... good work guys! see ya in the next year! x3
>>
>>63935
I been thinking of this for awhile, but how of a niche is Heyuri really? It's not super easy to find as we really don't promote ourself.

Are we really on a corner of the web? (with 10000s of corners....)
>>
>>63935
It's just as I noticed, activity dropped off after January. I actually thought most the newfags from the ad campaign disappeared, but I guess plenty of 'em stuck around.nigra

Heyuri has a lot of potential to become bigger, but the question is how big it should be... or how much we could handle. (・∀・)
>>
>but the question is how big it should be... or how much we could handle. (・∀・)
Back in late June 2020, the generally consensus here was to shoot for "4chan circa 2004" and see how close we could get. Considering the rapid growth we had witnessed since May 2020, it seemed within the realm of possibility that we might reach that goal in a year or two... sweat2

Using GETs as a guide, we estimated that 4chan's /b/ had around 1,993 PPD (83 PPH/60,786 PPM) on average between April '04 and February '05 (though it's worth noting this doesn't account for the several weeks of downtime that occurred between then)

Off-Topic@Heyuri would have to multiply its post-January 2023 activity level by about 13.5 times to reach that. That might sound crazy, but it was about 20 times during June 2020 when this was first being discussed huh

For comparison, 4chan's /b/ during April '05 to October '05 had an average of 10,363 PPD (432 PPH/316,071 PPM), February '06 to July '06 had 45,454 PPD (1894 PPH/1,386,347 PPM), and July '07 to September '07 (the so-called "newfag summer") had 155,172 posts per day (6,466 PPH/4,732,746 PPM)

This question is more for Kaguya to dedcide and think of, but at the same time, imageboards are rather hard to controll. If it grows big it will do so natural and in a steady "pace". Unless we promote it hard. For the moment I think we've more manpower than we really need. I am on for almost all day long, but I really don't need to do much work anyway x3
>>
The rate of increase is a more interesting question than the target size anyway I'd think. If the site grows too fast, the team won't have the time to prepare hardware and staff ramp-ups in time as needed. It also prevents outsiders from integrating cleanly into the culture, because when there are too many at once, they can 'lean on each other' to retain their outsider culture, instead shifting heyurian culture away from their sheer power in numbers. This can be counteracted by good moderation, of course, but that's again where rate of increase comes in.

>For the moment I think we've more manpower than we really need. I am on for almost all day long, but I really don't need to do much work anyway
I somewhat agree, but a good group of manpower is pretty nice to have. Spam-kun is squished! ( ´ω`)

And when I feel a bit sad about not doing anything, I always look back at the open staff discussion thread and read this:
>You forgot about our most heavy duty, and that its to post and have fun.

Ah aewsome, thanks! biggrin

>Using GETs as a guide, we estimated that 4chan's /b/ had around 1,993 PPD (83 PPH/60,786 PPM) on average
For what it's worth, according to statz on https://youtu.be/2mRp3QNkhrc?t=949 - 4chan had around 2200 PPD circa August 2004 too

I am happy with the current organic and consistent growth. Moving forward, we may experience occasional peaks and dips from now on as well, as we've been seeing over the past three years. However, I don't think we need to worry about Heyuri growing so fast that would cause problems mentioned on posts above, and such growth is unlikely anyways sweat2
My personal views about summerfags in particular are similar to 63926-san, people with smart phones can find Heyuri through all the year.

On Site Discussion, 388 posts were made during May 2023
Almost at the level of May 2021's Off-Topic. This also shows how slow things were back then sweat2

January '23. It was a shitshow sweat2

Ha, i found this place on /f/ a little over a year ago. Barely even use it though, just stuck on /jp/ and /a/

Post 2020 /jp/ is completely unusable, surely you misspelled, or maybe you meant the archives?

i want an updated chartttttttttttttttttttttt

Sure it's not as good as it used to be. I just filter all of the vtuber threads and it's twice as good as it would be otherwise.
