This poster said it like it is.

I mainly like it for being active and still feeling like a place with at least semi-intelligent users, where you can talk about (almost) whatever you feel like without getting drowned out by spam and concern trolling. But sometimes it gets a bit stale when it seems like more users are performing the idea of posting whatever, rather than actually just posting whatever they feel like in the moment.

THE GOOD
-Rule 8
-Non-lolicons aren't barbarians towards lolicons like on other sites
-Surprisingly high level of intelligence and thoughtfulness to posts
-Interest in Japanese culture goes beyond stuff like anime and games
-Broadly immune to /pol/-ification while still able to comment thoughtfully on political issues that affect us most
-Very good sense of humor
-Anime streams are some of the most fun I've had online in years
-Quality threads

THE BAD
-Sometimes moves slow, although not too bad once you get used to the pace (just play gamez and watch anime while ur waiting for new posts!!).
-Would like to see more threads about things that are a little less "typical" weeaboo fare (things like literature, philosophy, history, etc.... the Shinto thread is a good start). With the same Heyuri sense of humor and irreverence of course!
-Threads to post lists and charts and things like that are fun and sometimes I miss them, though I see why it could drown out the quality of discussions.

I love Heyuri. It is my favorite site on teh internetz aside from my personal one.
