Showing staff deleted posts looks bad. It looks like a reddit thread - why even leave a record of moderation actions? Whats the benefit besides cluttering the board?
>>
Agreed, it looks bad
>>
it shows staff hard work at censorship :iyahoo:

i like it its quirky. the more heyuri original features the better
>>
>>71030
"Heyuri original feature" and its something every forum powermod has had for 30 years :xd:
>>
>>71030
Good to have original imageboard features but this is not nice to look at, it stands out from other replies and generally i feel like this is unnecessary.
It's also not exactly original, i've seen this in kareha/wakaba.

i have never seen "deleted by staff" on any other board. you think i meant deleting posts ? lol
>>
Showing user-deleted posts I get - at least it can add context in certain situations. Showing staff deleted posts is useless and looks bad. Consider that us regular users have no idea what was deleted, and we can't even see it in some menu. It is merely an obelisk stating "A POST WAS DELETED FOR... SOME REASON. MAYBE IT MADE THE MODS ANGRY, MAYBE IT WAS BLATANT SPAM OR RULE 8. WHO KNOWS. FUCK YOU."

We don't wanna see that.

See my OP screenshot.

(Its a feature ported from futaba/2chan, they were on it long b4 reddit existed)

>why even leave a record of moderation actions? Whats the benefit besides cluttering the board?
it's more transparent since you can distinguish whether a post has been deleted by the user or by staff-san.

it does make dealing with stuff less 'silent' though

no i wont

you could have added reasoning behind deletion to these. i often wonder why my shit got deleted despite being of the highest possible quality
>>
>no i wont
It's comparing to how on reddit when a post is deleted u just see [deleted] in place of its original content. Too be fair I don't think it's been done on an english-speaking imageboard before

>you could have added reasoning behind deletion to these
Hmm, I feel like that'd be even more distracting than it currently is

>i often wonder why my shit got deleted despite being of the highest possible quality
feel free to ask on this board any time (=゚ω゚)ノ

if the concern is the board looking cluttered, maybe we can do what Futaba Channel is doing and only showing something like
This thread has n deleted posts. View
when the user enters the thread.

Attached is how it looks on futaba, it could be ported to kokonotsuba possibly with some minor changes (and a noscript support)

This would be a substantial improvement (Making it hidden by default)
>>
>>71035
Except on 2chan you can revive deleted posts if you so choose
As an archival autist that would be really convenient for me, because a lot of my favorite weekly threads have shitposters who like to poke the :kuma6: and my PC can't handle obscene amounts of memory loss from keeping so many threads open at once :sweat2:
>>
>This thread has one deleted post
*click*
>This post was deleted by staff
Eh... this isn't what I had in mind...
>>
>>71045
i doubt they will allow deleted posts to be seen.. but not looking at the annoying deleted posts markers is still an improvement. The feature itself is just utterly useless if we can't see whats deleted. Seriously what *is* the point? Either commit to it or remove the feature. As of right now its silly
>>
It's adding transparency about whether a post was deleted by the site staff or the person who made the post. Sometimes staff would take the heat for self-deleted posts :sweat2:

Also it does actually show the contents of OP-deleted posts.
