What caused the dramatic collapse in activity that heyuri experienced over the last few weeks? I've checked the board in the afternoon, then came back in the evening and not a single post was made
>>
i dont think its too dramatic but the only tangible thing i can think of is technical problems like the timeouts and server errors making it difficult to post without interruption

otherwise attendance is up to everyones schedules and stuff which dont always align.

solution: POST MOAR

Part of it might be that the war going on in the middle east and other political/economic stuff is more interesting and heyuri isn't a good place for serious discussions about things like that, part of it could be that most heyurizens are airheads who can't think of anything to post about other than "ZOMG LOOK AT THIS CAT XD" or "POST PICS OF CUTE GIRLS!" when boorus are much better than imageboards for finding pics of cute girls. Someone (not me) should put more effort into making good threads. If you build a good thread, the replies will come.
>>
The recent threads aren't interesting to reply to and I am not in the mood to make my own thread.
>>
ive found recent threads uninteresting honestly. not that i dislike the site now or anything but ive been a bit bored with other users...
>>
heyuri gets boring and stale when new = bad, and i dont mean r8 or any nu-4chan. But media in general or any topic thats brought up. I like old media as much as everyone else here, but things needs fresh air too,
>>
If site's down for more than 2 days, part of its everyday users would never return. I don't know, but it's like a rule of teh Web, it's how website operation works, maybe psychology of the masses, queueing theory or something. The site was down for like a week?
>>
>>70352
i wanted to bring up the "yeah" feature as a possible contender for low thread participation for you can just press the "yeah" button and move on, but it seems like no one uses it and is a complete failure.

It sucks having to agree with this, but Heyuri is largely uninteresting. I say 'is' and not 'has become' because I don't think this is new, really. Back then we had more OC and a few more interesting threads per week, but overall posts were the same as they are now, look at the archives if you think I'm wrong.

Does this mean Heyuri was always bad? No, I love Heyuri, I was making fun posts in the decaying StrawberryHeaven hoping we'd live. But its been six (6) years. For reference, when 4chan started, in six years it was knocking on 2010's door, and it was an entirely different site by that time. Mostly for the worse, but with that kind of audience things have to change. Heyuri hasn't changed at all. There's less OC, less activity on other boards and a few new users, but it's the same Heyuri.

It's getting old. We're getting old. Our userbase consists of the same 40 or so anhedonic (ex-)otaku that just don't want to use that sort of brain power to do something interesting. Even if they did they wouldn't get as much of a response as it used to. I don't really know what to do about it. What can you do about it?

i started feeling this way recently and the tripfags are becoming a little annoying. :sweat2:

It's fair for very long-term users with a fading interest in what Heyuri is centered around to eventually lose their youth passion and move on. It's like expecting a middle aged guy working 9-5 job to pull all-nighters for netoge like he did in middle school, getting old sux like that! :xp:
Take someone like 9-san, since he was around during SH era, if he was a 21yo college student creating OC at late night in expense of failing classes then; that would make such a person almost 30 today, with a job and perhaps even a wife to take care of
Old users aside, getting new users for an imageboard also gets harder by each passing day, you can see 4chan activity charts on plebs archives to see a decline.
I'm still optimistic. As long as jaded users ITT keep their negativity off other boards, we will have more young users joining in to have fun (according to a juvenile perspective)
>>
>>70364
but where are middle-aged NEETs going to go?
>>
>>70365
my guess is they mostly give up on internets and spend the entire day consuming media or creating stuff to not share with anyone

...either that, or to Gensokyo

OP here

Didn't add this but since the thread took off I figured i will: I was one of the more active posters on the site (easily the top 5 by my own count) over the past half a year but the list of allowed topics has narrowed considerably to the point where you have to carefully double check every post to make sure you don't accidentally break one of the many unwritten or flimsily interpreted rules. I've met a few ex users of this site who seem like all around good people but stopped using the site due to the moderation being a little too ban happy. Innocent posts that are totally in line with the spirit of the site are frequently deleted, and you know, we don't get paid to post here or anything. Eventually people just leave, and all you get are the porn threads or whatever and the people who make them. Or like random image macros with no comment. I'm not saying anyone who gets a post deleted is going to leave, but it happens a few times over benign things and you're like, "fuck this. It's not worth the effort". I've met at least 2 people who also got banned for ban evasion (with no additional comment) or accused of being one of the many trolls who haunt this site. It's happened to me a few times too. All in all the moderation certainly has a hand in the current situation

i've to admit i didnt post in the "post in this thread or you gay", so that said, i am here to say i am gay.

warning, reading this label will make u double gayif u read this, u triple gayclearly u are gay and this is a joke
>>

/o/ and /f/s' primary goal is to create oc. i am not saying the other boards are incapable of doing the same but it is likely not to happen.
>>
I thought the rules on what's allowed were never as lax as they are today. But I barely post nowadays so that's not for me to judge... Also maybe it's just me, but it seems like /lounge/ took the biggest hit in activity decline.
70364-san summed it up very well. I love this place but it gets stale after all these years.
>>
Whether Heyuri is stale or not depends on the person. For the long timers, it probably does feel that way. Most "off topic" imageboards get stale quickly. What are the most active imageboards of today about? Politics (always something new going on there), new video games, and new anime . The fact that discussing these topics is, at best, highly discouraged on Heyuri or just straight out banned poses a problem.

In my opinion the solution is three-pronged. First, bring in new people. The elder Heyurians are going to be worn out no matter what. Second, relax the stigma against discussing new things - this includes politics. Political discussion can be fun. Three, loosen up moderation in general, people don't want to get in trouble and right now it's very easy to be in trouble for very minor "mistakes". Ban people who come here to stir shit, but be lenient when people are just making casual fun. E.g.: >>70315 should never have been deleted.
>>
>>70374
>Most "off topic" imageboards get stale quickly.
source: check out /r9k/, /bant/, and /b/. Even without the restriction of not discussing current events, these boards are mind numbingly repetitive. /bant/ is a literal discord server and most of its activity has been lost to actual discord servers where its users congregate. /b/ is just porn, and /r9k/ is just the exact same ragebait threads phrased slightly differently each time. I'd be curious if someone could point to an example, I think heyuri is no outlier...

The reports of Heyuri's "dramatic collapse in activity" are greatly exaggerated

Note: there is a slight inaccuracy regarding Strange World during the "maintenance" period, since those logs are currently b0rked. The post count difference between the currently-available posts has been averaged over that period instead (will be corrected later)

qA3lkdVI-san is right. Those threads are boring! You can only fap so much in one day

I found heyuri when it contained a type of softcore content that is no longer allowed, so I don't feel like visiting that often anymore.

proof that jailbaitfags only came here for jb and nothing else
