If you're all supposed to be into old shit, why are the same five old anime referenced most all the time? It's always Moetan, Di GI Charat, Ichigo Mashimaro, Haruhi, and Rozen Maiden, among other suspiciously popular anime series. You do know there was other anime made during that time, right? You're not all just pretending to like anime from then, are you?

we've watched 4 out of the 5 animu you mention on cytube nights as well as older anime (which makes up the majority)
https://wiki.heyuri.net/index.php?title=Heyuri_Cytube#Previous_streams
they're popular themselves so theres naturally more screencaps, GIFs, etc. of them already in circulation.

I don't think this warrants site discussion, but if you don't want people to see this thread for whatever reason I guess this works
>>69912
I'm talking about the images used more than discussion distinctly following these anime. The user culture is centered around Internet-Approved Old Funny
anime rather than actual old anime. It's not authentic.
>>69913
More popular is one thing, but it seems that the same things get brought up over and over with little variation.

I've been here for several years.

And I seek to ask them why they post the same five things, which is why I posted this in /b/ and not /q/
>any effort to change or manipulate that would be "not authentic"
It would be not authentic to who the posters are, yes. I'm asking the posters why they are like that.
>>69920
Oh, haruhi. That's a deep cut there. Watch Disappearance of Nagato-San instead. Yuki with tryptophan-induced brain damage is best Yuki.
It's annoying getting the runaround from people who browse /q/ instead of getting actual feedback. I can make a new thread that specifies I'm not discussing the site if that'd please the court.

I like to post about only the cutest anime girls, the 9s and 10s. I've watched lots of old anime where the girls are a 6 or 7/10 and forgettable, not worth looking up pics of or taking screenshots of. We could discuss how much we'd like to rape and impregnate the lolis in some old less popular mild-moderately cute anime like Akko-chan or Figure 17 though if you wanna make a thread about one of those.

Well, you did start it off addressing us with the "you all" so that implies
us
as in the people who post on this website. No?
If you meant the broader otaku community then that's a different conversation, and one I'd be interested in seeing.

While i do think OP has a valid point for this thread, as sometimes newer imgz surface more than older. And there's nothing wrong with that as I like new anime too! However, I always keep in mind what I want Heyuri to be - so i try search for older image when posting. But I assume an larger issue is that most people get their image from other BBS that doesn't have a lot of older image floating around any more due to how internet has "outgrew" them to more newer picz. I doubt people go out their way to search image... Butt!
I personally love to use
https://nozomi.la/
and search for a tag -> then go to the last page. That way i can keep heyuri old but gold!
Be teh change!

it genuinely looks way newer than that, like post-2010
and not even in a "augh, it's new-anime bullshit" kind of way, it just looks way less like what came before it aesthetically than what came after it

Ehh... it's fairly apparent from teh OP text that u were more interested in calling out and riling up supposed "fake anime fans" on Heyuri than being genuinely curious about why certain shows are commonly featured around here
If u must know, certain shows are commonly featured in users' posts bcuz (in my opinion):
- Heyuri's anime-watching users are largely interested in 2000s moe, SoL, and comedy/ecchi anime. It's a general characteristic of the userbase since day 1, which has attracted like-minded individuals whenever they've encountered the site
- those types of shows were - among many others that are far lesser known - nominated and watched on Heyuri cytube; the goal of which was to inspire more discussion, images, OC, etc. about those shows. Mission successful!
- they have been staples on Western moe-oriented imageboard communities since they aired, and are commonly brought up and recommended
- they're great shows that are classics for a reason (again, among moe anime fans - not in general). Older fans remember them fondly, newer fans watch them first to get accustomed
- it's better than the stuff that's actually popular among Western anime fans: currently-airing crap, shounenshit, Toonami shows, top-rated shows on MAL, etc. A bajillion more people have seen DBZ, One Piece, Sailor Moon, Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, etc. than shows liek Rozen Maiden or Azumanga Daioh. U probably wouldn't want to browse a site centered around those types of shows any more than I would - hence why ur here!

There's also the fact that popular shows have more pictures made of them. They get more fan art, and you'll see more people post official art of it without looking it up yourself, so you'll obviously save more of them.
The only kinds of pictures you'll casually save while watching anime instead of saving from the internet are full unedited screenshots, and those are not posted unless a character said something funny that's relevant to the discussion or you're discussing cool looking shots. The kinds of images that tend to be posted more often tend to be edited in some way (reaction images tend to be cropped for example). Since they require more effort than just clicking the s key on your keyboard, people get them from the internet rather than make them themselves while watching the anime, so the amount of such images from a particular anime is directly proportional to its popularity.

>staples
Yeah, that's another way of saying what I said.
I don't know if it's the English barrier or something, but I'm wondering why it's rare to see any of the other bajillion 2000s moe, SoL, and comedy/ecchi anime that were released around the time.
>they're great shows that are classics for a reason
that's the same reasoning people use to only ever watch shounenshit and saturday morning cartoons. It's reminding me of my highschool's anime club that just booted up Netflix and watched the same kids' shows over and over.

Heyuri isn't for old anime specifically, you know? Fans of newer anime are welcome as well, and they can talk about Frieren or whatever all you want. We've watched mitsuboshi colors on cytube which is new.
I still don't get what you want exactly. In the first 5 pages of /b/ and page 1 of /a/ I've seen pictures of milky holmes, genshiken, ika musume, jewelpet twinkle, ufo princess valkyrie, magipoka, zero no tsukaima and saki (as well as newer anime like wataten). On cytube we've watched manabi straight, kurenai, elfen lied, mahoutsukai tai, midori no hibi, angel tales, binchou-tan, doujin work, geobreeders, galaxy angel, alien 9 and a bunch of others.
They're not exactly obscure anime, but it's not any less than I'd expect to be posted on an average anime related website, specially since like I said, people don't post screenshots and talk about every anime they watch.

Hello OP, welcome to /q/. I see you have voiced an unpopular opinion and thus your thread has been autosaged by the mods.
As a defense attorney with over 2 weeks of experience, I regularly defend users who I think have faced unfair moderation actions against their threads. As I believe we wont gain new users if we treat them this way (Even if we disagree with what they have to say at first).
Your thread has been autosaged, and I believe this is an injustice.
I hereby request that the mods un-autosage this thread, as its a lively discussion. You cant say it fits the board since YOU, the mod, moved it over here. Autosaging it is just a way for you to display your displeasure and we dont need you to do that.
Thats all for this post.

I think it simply has to do with some shows being more influential than others. Dejiko was the face of Akiba for many years, Rozen Maiden had (still has?) yearly festivals, Haruhi defined a genre and is the queen of /h/ here.
As for the anime you counted, there are multiple threads about them, but there are less chances to refer to them in usual discussions. If you are interested in discussing specific anime, you also shouldn't be shy to use our Anime board - you are likely to find some other interested people eventually

>The key word is "diversity". Get that through your skull
Diversity of what? Genre?
This post
>>69934
made me think your problem was the number of shows, not that they're all the same genre.
>I don't know if it's the English barrier or something, but I'm wondering why it's rare to see any of the other bajillion 2000s moe, SoL, and comedy/ecchi anime that were released around the time.
I think I've proven we did watch a bajillion other moe and comedy shows other than the ones you mentioned in the OP.

>Sketchbook Colors, Haibane Renmei, Aria, Cosplay Complex
I've watched some episodes of these and got bored. We have different tastes.
>NieA_7, Kamen no Maid Guy, Planetes, Utena
I've seen some clips or looked at enough info about these that I'm certain I wouldn't like them. Maybe I'll try NieA_7 someday but it looks like it'll be just as boring as Haibane Renmei.
>Toward the Terra, Legend of Black Heaven
These are the only two I haven't heard of and they look awful. We have very different tastes, I like shows with lots of cute lolis and as few annoying shotas and salarymen as possible.

"We" as in the 30 or so people that regularly participate in watchalongs versus a website with hundreds of daily users. Why is this so hard to understand

OP, to actually give an answer to the original question you asked (why users keep posting the same 5 anime even though they're "all supposed to be into old shit" and "there was other anime made during that time" (your words)), one I can think of is that those are the ones most users here like the most. There's probably a 100 other anime, but since most users dont like them as much as those main 5, they don't talk a lot about them unprompted. Imagine asking what sodas people like drinking the most. Most would probably say Coca-Cola or Pepsi! You probably won't get an answer like luzocade or jarritos that often.
If you want to get more people talking about other old anime, make a thread and anyone interested will reply! But you can't force users to talk about something they don't like or enjoy watching.

And how do you know what the other users are watching? More anime than the ones you mentioned get posted in the first place like I mentioned here
>>69941
And even if they didn't, the pictures you post don't really reflect the anime they are watching, because of the reasons I pointed out here
