Whether if discord/IRC really harms sites, that we used to have an active discord server (that I repurposed into notifications-only until it getting b&), or how Heyuri has promoted usage of off-site Discord/IRC places until I became admin aside (since they are all different topics)

How you said you'd defend every and each banned user also aside (since it's unrelated to the current topic and we've had issues with certain users bringing up tens of topics at once while we're focusing on a single thing)

What I think about your deleted "Delete this thread" post in that thread (which I'm unsure of, since backseat moderating aside, Futaba Channel has users replying "del" to threads in a similar way) out of teh way too...

That thread isn't promoting any specific Dicksword server. In the past I've deleted or AS'd threads doing exactly that, but I think that user is just a bit clueless about the stigma around Discord servers or their effects on imageboard communities. I think they were just genuinely asking if there is a way to privately or publicly chat with individual Heyuri users, and the thread too mostly evolved into that way (with mentions of the Japanese-style CGI chat, prevalence of XMPP instead among Heyurizens) instead of discussing whether we should or not have a Discord server again.

Whether or not it harmed the site? That is up for debate? As a post notification server I am sure it was fine, but it was also the breeding ground for off site drama and slapfights, thats how the whole akima and kuz and lolico mess started, and thats why you repurposed it, isnt it?

You are allowed to post that a Discord server is a terrible idea in the thread for drama reasons that time has proved, which I would agree to some degree

But it's simply not a good excuse for deleting the thread. It can make the site look bad if staff are suppressing ideas without giving a chance to let the community comment on them, even if they'd mostly comment negatively anyways. The exception is trolls bringing up an already-recently-discussed topic too frequently, and in this case, maybe direct discord server links or desertless self-promotions

The irony of this statement is simply too much. Using this sort of democratic language gets you laughed at by the mods here, or banned for "trolling" and "Sewing division". Maybe you personally haven't done that, but you did back up their line when I came and raised cane about it on the CGI chat.

You havent said that about other threads. Especially the meta discussions to which this board is supposedly dedicated, which are frequently deleted, locked, or autosaged after mods come in to drop their hilarious one-liners and public bans. But now all of a sudden giving the community a chance to comment is important?

That's cuz their site has autonomous moderation. If enough users vote for a post to be deleted, it automatically gets deleted - so those who haet a post make "del" posts to try to drum up support. Even with that feature however, it's not much better than 4chan users sagebombing threads they don't like (which sux)

I, for one, staunchly argued for making it notifications-only (or baleeting it since we also had an IRC channel) since day 1 - even back when it was still an active hub of discussion and b4 TEH DRAMA

Don't confuse the way that j00 - an faggot of the highest caliber who frequently complains about non-issues and takes every opportunity to crap on the few users who volunteer their time and effort (and in some cases, money) to help keep the site running - gets treated VS general Heyuri moderation policy

"Let users express their issues and frustrations, reply to earnest posts earnestly, apologize for any errors/mistakes" has always been my modus operandi. There is however a point when sum1 stops acting like a "user", and starts acting like a troll - repeatedly remaking deleted posts, ignoring teh rules & staff requests, causing a ruckus over nothing, immediately acting like Heyuri staff-san are "teh big evil", etc.

I wouldn't exactly trust your ability to discern me from other users and vice versa since people (myself included) often catch bans for "bad evading" over posts I never made, get confused with other users, etc

if you're frequently catching rule 9 bans then ur who they're intended for

All bans, baleetions, locks, etc. were undone in that instance... by me, cuz I - without consulting the other staff-san who had dealt with u - decided to give u the benefit of the doubt (and there was a lot of doubt )

I originally had nothing more to post in this thread after explaining OP why that thread was allowed, but I'm noticing it's becoming a pattern that threads become personal after the main topic is mostly settled

If your intentions of making Heyuri bettar is genuine, spend that energy on having fun instead!

And even if u think a thread or a post sux, I'm not sure if this is something appropriate for an admin to write but it takes much less effort and is much moar effective to create fun threads or make ur own posts to draw the public attention to newer content instead
