I think it was some dude on krautchan who got fed up with polish trolls and idiots and wanted to mock them. All the rest of countryballs followed. Dude either did not know the proper colors and went with it or swapped colors were a part of mockery. I think trolls came from erischan which has been down for ages now, it was polish main chan before karachan where raids happened. I believe I still have some screenshots of posts the trolls made but this is my educated speculation since I was not present. I first joined chans like 6 years ago to be honest but I'm a hoarder of anything old. And they were full of borked english and essentially shitposts. I would guess this is why polandball speaks in borked english.
