Since i was in 4th grade ive been extremely bad at taking care of myself, and it never mattered until recently, because now you can tell when my hairs greasy and unbrushed. i shower once or twice a week but even when i do shower i stand in the shower and dont actually clean myself.
In middle school, id only brush the outside of my hair, but the inside (like, the part by my neck) got so tangled id get big hidden dreads, i was thinking of doing this again because its easy, and just deal with the mess later.

There are probably 'basic hygiene' videos on youtube that can help you.
i'd make it a habit to get into learning about it, and applying what you learned little by little. If you have trouble remembering to do it, maybe schedule it. Also pair your good habits with something rewarding, after you shower, do something you enjoy, pairing habits with rewards helps you stick to them.

you dont have to do a full body shower everyday, have some days of the week where you do them and then the others can be low maintenance showers, have a lil routine with certain products you use. Put conditioner in your hair and brush it in the shower while the conditioner is in, its easier that way

Some tips I’ve learned:
Wash your hair twice, I don’t know why this works but it does. If your shampoos cheaper, like Suave, you’ll have to do it everyday. Otherwise every other day will be alright, unless you’re particularly oily (then you should look into shampoo for that). Please brush all of your hair, if you don’t it can get permanently matted (・Д・) Start at the bottom, and section it out if that’s necessary. It’ll take a while but it’s worth it. If it’s already matted some salons can get it out, if it’s truly unfixable they’ll at least be able to give you a good haircut. Also, if you really can’t bring yourself to wash your hair often enough, dry shampoo can help for a day or two but isn’t a permanent solution
Haircare aside, you should try to carry deodorant with you (put it in your purse/whatever you carry). There’s mini versions if you’re worried about space. Perfume is less important, if you want it just spray it on in the morning and forget about it. I know it seems like perfume would cover it up when you don’t shower/wear deodorant, but it absolutely doesn’t. I’d also recommend putting on lotion before bed or after showering. I use Nivea because I have super dry skin, but if you don’t wanna smell like a grandma that strawberry Korean lotion is pretty good
Sorry if there’s any typos in that.. tired today and too lazy to proofread ヽ(;▽;)ノ

im like a dog, if i eat a lot of meat my hair gets shiny and soft and tame.
washing greasy hair with just water is enough to get most of the excess oils out.
you can also sleep with a towel on your pillow, it will soak up the oils while you sleep as well as the oil in your face, i did this when i was a teenager and it cleared my face, that and a better diet.

i rarely ever wear deodorant and dont think i need to..no working out/going outside= no sweat!! unless i play a video game really hard. also i heard some deodorants can cause Alzheimer’s… another thing is i dont put any soap on my body , i also found out recently, apparently the chemicals can cause hormonal imbalances so i guess thats good, ill probably keep that the same. my skin doesnt oily or dry so i dont really think i need lotion. maybe the hair stuff is a good idea, it just feels like such a hassle though…

i didnt respond to this earlier because i didnt quite know what to say…i know how to take care of myself, i just cant…
you know how, depressed people cant get out of bed and do anything? thats how an and have been for multiple years but im not necessarily depressed, (though i do have depressive eposides)
i dont think the reward thing will really work, because as ive stated i can barely do anything sometimes, to the point ive found it hard to do things i enjoy , too

the hard thing is that you simply have to force yourself even when it feels totally impossible. dont beat yourself up over missing a day or two but the best way to let yourself go is to let yourself go.
>>830
this sounds like overwashing to me, if you wash too much your hair cant reach a natural balence and gets really greasy really quickly which is why you can barely skip i day. i wash my hair once per week but for most people two or 3 times is best

It's human nature when you are not completely satisfied in your life, like there is something you have not achieved or you feel you are lacking, to then neglect other parts of your life, in an effort to maximise the time and resources you devote to achieving the missing element.
It is important to recognise that there is no need to neglect important things and by doing them you will improve your circumstances and chances of achieving your goals.
Think of this as an analogy, when a child or a capricious adult gets angry, they neglect much in the haze of their anger since they get proverbial tunnel vision. When a human is unsatisfied they get tunnel vision and neglect things like their hygiene. As you get older and wiser you will both get angry less and you will be more passively satisfied even when wanting in life because you gain enlightenment

I experimented with not using any conditioner or shampoo for my hair (just water) and it works way better for me. I haven't used anything in my hair for a year or two now. For the first couple months your hair has to rebalance itself and can rebound and become overly greasy as your scalp is used to you regulating it externally. It really depends on what kind of hair you have though.
My routine is very low effort, which is good as a depressed NEET. I don't brush because I have curly hair, and I'll spend like 10 minutes detangling my hair in the shower, that's it really. The only other thing that I recommend is getting some kind of exfoliation brush, glove, or cream. it feels great and goes a long way for skin health.
Also, I've heard silk pillowcases are good for keeping your hair from being damaged via friction in your sleep. A bit pricey for authentic silk though.

thats probably some of the problem for me, because i feel like showering is such a waste of time and its useless..if i dont stink or am covered with dirt or itchy whats the point..i always think i could be doing better things and when someone tells me to shower i get annoyed
