Are there any boards that are still fun to use? If I use the filter mechanism to block out shit threads is it enjoyable?

I'd like to use 4chan, but it feels like there is almost nothing worth reading there. Even having a conversation is basically impossible
>>
Nope. It's nothing but trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls, etc.
>>
>>197837
And that's especially funny considering the entire internet post-trump 2.0 stole modern 4chan's bit
Doesn't matter the platform, it's nothing but retard battles and low effort humor. There's no reason to use it anymore (not even for leaks because the news immediately/simultaneously breaks on SMNs)
>>

No it's just porn and retards. Waste of a site
>>
reusing images someone just posted is no fun either...

Sorry, I go on 5 IB's daily, I lose track.

-.-

teh last time i actually needed to post on 4chan, I
1- waited 5 minutes to request a captcha
2- solved 5-step the captcha
3- captcha has timed out while I was proofreading my post, solved 5-step captcha again
4- got a notice about my IP range being blocked, asking to either buy a pass or "verify" myself
5- waited for 10 minutes to be able to be eligible for requesting a verification e-mail
6- created a throwaway proton account (an ordeal on its own rly)
7- solved some other 5-step captcha so they would send the e-mail
8- IIRC, after clicking the verification link in my mail, I went through yet another 5-step captcha before my session was actually "verified"
9- to request a captcha in the thread, waited some minutes once again
10 - finally got the last 5-step captcha
11 - solved that and quickly pressed the post buttan

No surprise 4chan users don't create OCs anymore, that energy goes into going through that ritual for posting in threads these days :dark:
>>
bant was usable with a 300 word filter list
however most posters are too stupid to make use of the filter even if it was shared often
>>
no. i was on 4chan since 2006 and i quit for good last year because it had become completely unusable and the userbase keeps getting worse.
>>
the captcha is so bad, you have to do like 5 different things just to post, absolutely terrible.
Not to mention, theres no lolis anymore. very ghey
>>
>>197852
ya i had a 4chan account since at least 1996 but i cancelled my subscription in 2024 cuz its just so bad now
>>
Everyone on there is ANGRY about POLOTICS on the TWITTERDOTCOMS :angry::angry::angry::angry:
>>
Maybe [s4s] a bit like of Heyuri. But, ehhhhhh.
There is lot of same shit since 2013

And if you ask me, I think nowadays 4chan really shit, there are lot of normal people here. The only difference from other social media platforms is that you can say faggot.

And the fact that I’ve been banned 3 times is proof of this.

However, 4chan still the biggest of all imageboards. That's why we dependent that site.

>>197853
>>197850
Actually this is just for one-time. I solve 3 CAPTCHA for post.

>>197857
I agree this, there is no difference /pol/ and twitter
>>
4um is a loosh farm and has been for a long while, same as the normienet. It's basically a form of self-harm to use it. You're far better off touching grass than that website.
>>
>>197858
>[s4s] a bit like of Heyuri
r9k/bantfags drove out all the funposters in like 2019
not a single motherfucker on there even knows how to use photoshop

I stopped posting early this year. The introduction of the spur.us/mcl.io fingerprinters (which they put between the Cloudflare and 4chan captchas) made me think about what I was willing to tolerate, and with most threads being shit, the choice was easy.
Now I just lurk, and knowing I won't post in any threads keeps my lurking limited. So my impressions of current 4chan may be out of date.

>Are there any boards that are still fun to use?
Only if you embrace the trolling as a way of life. Allegedly, the slowest, nichest hobby boards there are better insulated from the rot.
>If I use the filter mechanism to block out shit threads is it enjoyable?
The problem with filters is there's always a new form of shit, and mods won't do their jobs of deleting low quality posts and whacking repeat offenders with the banhammer. Now a loonie problem has festered in every recurring thread on every board, and when one of the crazies do get banned they just wait three days and do it all again, or ban evade completely.
>it feels like there is almost nothing worth reading there. Even having a conversation is basically impossible
There were faint glimmers of light during my last months there, but yeah it's very dim.
>>
VPN/Tor blockage on /g/ is really frustrating. I get why, but no wonder there are no good posts anymore!
>>
your only solution is to block this shit site

I used to like 4chan's /jp/, but it's been utterly devastated in recent years, and I'm not just talking about the typical cultural rot that's plagued the site for years.

1. half of the board is now dedicated to idols and vtuber generals.
2. the users of these threads often bump touhou threads with their inane crappy posts in order to bump their old generals off the board, so that they can make new general threads with refreshed image limits.
3. to combat this (I think), the moderators added a two-week autosage to all threads, which now means that any slower and more thoughtful threads will always die within a few weeks.
4. the moderators do little to stop trolls and mentally ill shitposters from derailing and shitting up threads they don't like, or even threads that they DO like. at least one of them is actively protected by the mods.
5. the hack split up the board, and now most /jp/sies have fled to other imageboards, never to return. the activity on the board is way down just like it is for the rest of the site.

it's just in such a sorry state that it's heartbreaking

VTubers really brought upon the death of otaku culture, didn't they? Since their inception, the most cancerous trends in anime (over-designed girls with multicolored highlights in their hair, horrible BGM/insert songs/openings & outros that sound like someone threw five or six of the most generic JP chord progressions in a blender with the worst amerikorean rap-pop they could find, SJWist censorship and dogshit writing) have gotten to incredibly high levels.
The doujinshi world has been in dire straits for quite some time now as well.
As for the problems with western otaku these days, your post sums it up pretty well. Scanlations are dead, nichebases are shrinking- the only saving grace is following good Japanese hobbyists around on various art sites and SMNs
>>
same thread, same first reply, same outrage, it's crazy people engaged in this shit. but the more i thought about it the less i started believing someone would go through what >>197850 described and concluded its mostly bots there
>>
Nope new captcha is way too hard, and the place is full of feds.
>>
>>198036
its not hard, but it is a complete waste of fucking time
