usually when you copy files you should either do it from cli, so you start your system in cli mode
or else you can use a second account, copy or use rsync to write the new config, and in case they arent applied you may have to chown them to the destination user so you would do all of it again but chown them before you log in into the destination user

That does look quite polished. I guess this could be fine because I'm installing it on a dextop and using ethernet cable for internets. (I never could get wifi to work on Ubuntu for some reason
)
Does it have English though? I can't into Japanese.
I'll probasbly use Debian anyway though since I already made a boot drive. I'm just waiting for mai new HDD to show up.

Okay, I've got it set up. Using this "Besot Haiku" theme. Thoughts?
Yeah, it's ugly, but in a charming way I think.

Speaking of Linux frustrations, I had to switch to proprietary driver to pray game, but something went wrong during the installation and then the whole computer wouldn't boot, even in recovery mode. I had to press some buttons and boot into some kind of emergency terminal, where I would spend 3 hours typing in commands to fix it.
I actually kind of had fun fixing it and felt a great sense of accomplishment afterward.
>>192717
Well, after a day of using it I've actually grown quite fond of this layout and look. I'm keeping it.

I'm a Windows user, but I recently maxed out my 2010 laptop and installed Debian with Xfce on it. Feels like a modern PC.

yes, my winshit laptop was so slow and i really hated it. But after installing CachyOS with XFCE4 i really started loving it, even more than my modern computer which runs KDE. I am thinking of switching as i realised i loved the simplicity of XFCE.

Meh, Xfce lacks far too many features for me to use it over Plasma/GNOME, when I want simplicity I use something like i3 or niri.
