what have you learned in life? what has been your best experience when you were younger? serious answers please. It's interesting
>>
>>190085
the biggest thing i've learned in life is that you can't count on anybody but yourself and in the end you only have yourself so you should live in a way that makes you happy and not worry about what other people think. uh i didn't have a lot of particularly good experiences when i was younger. i was a neet from the time i graduated high school until like 4 years ago. of course a lot happened in that time but nothing worth talking about here. sorry if my answer is a bit disappointing or underwealming.
>>
>>190086
I'm a bit younger than you but i'm a neet right now because of a weird life. How did you stop being a neet?
>>
>>190087
family drama caused me to get kicked out of my brother's house and my parents wouldn't let me move back in with them so i briefly became homeless and started doing gig work for money and got an apartment
>>
getting kicked out is the only way 2 cure NEETdom
>>
Tell me for real, were the 90s any good? The more I study the culture the more I come to consider that era merely an earlier instance of today's ghettoness, but all I have is history books and old TV.
>>
>>190101
80s>90s. But both destroy the pants off anything that came after.
>>
What was your reaction to 9/11? I was too young to remember anything. How drastic was the change before and after?
>>
>>190101
perhaps it's just because my childhood was shit but i don't have any fondness for the 90s. i discovered anime and otaku culture in 1998 and that's when my life really started. younger people romanticize the 90s in a way that it wasn't actually like.

>>190122
i didn't really understand the seriousness of it. i had been hoping that something would happen that day that would get me out of a school project that i didn't finish so i was just relieved that i got out of the school project because we didn't do anything in any of our classes that day. the changes were huge though. the world used to be a lot more free and 9/11 changed that.
>>
>i discovered anime and otaku culture in 1998
tell moar!
>>
>>190124
well i discovered anime from a book i found at the library about anime and became immediately obsessed. the first anime i was interested in that the book talked about was ranma 1/2. i couldn't actually afford to buy anime and didn't have cable so i spent all of my time on the internet searching for anime and japanese stuff. mostly geocities and various forums. back then fansub traders would have sites on geocities where they listed what shows they had and an address where you could send money for a tape and return postage with a list of what you wanted and they would send back a tape with the requested content on it. this was my main way of watching anime since i couldn't download it. this was how i originally watched di gi charat and excel saga. i also searched for tapes at used media stores which i bought with my lunch money but since i was buying random tapes of whatever they had i watched most things completely out of order which of course ruined shows like evangelion.
>>
>>190124
also i had no interest in watching anime on tv anyway because it was edited and dubbed. most of the things a lot of anime fans my age have nostalgia for i didn't care about at all because it was just surface level mainstream stuff that i had no interest in.
>>
>>190122
My memory of 9/11 as a European was that my parents and siblings was watching a tv-broadcast of it. Then we went to school and all talked about it. But thats it!
>>
It's simply amazing that heyuri actually has a diverse group of posters. For the longest time I thought it was just like five or so early 20 year old imageboard hoppers, along with a few regulars
I have a personality disorder so I fervently archive things, and tend to look into posters histories and stuff. liek today I was surfing the pages and found this thread https://img.heyuri.net/b/koko.php?res=179958 and promptly located that anon's yt https://www.youtube.com/@GoombaJoe12/
did you use any recognizable handles on 4chan/video sharing platforms/forums that are still in an archived state, OP? Also if you got to the see the unrevised recaps of the second plane strike, did you lul at the unfazed nose of that CGI airplane on tv
>i had been hoping that something would happen that day
Thanks for manifesting 9/11, ojisan
>>
Happy belated birthday!

>did you use any recognizable handles on 4chan/video sharing platforms/forums that are still in an archived state, OP?
i never used a name on 4chan and don't remember my old forum usernames but the last time i went searching for my old internet posts i immediately regretted it because i realized how retarded i used to be. i'm still retarded but i was much worse back then.
>Also if you got to the see the unrevised recaps of the second plane strike, did you lul at the unfazed nose of that CGI airplane on tv
i wasn't really paying attention because i just really wanted to get on the internet and just pretended to care for a minute when the teacher in the computer lab assumed i was there to watch the news and turned it on. pretty sure i did see the plane strike live as it happened but i really wasn't paying that close attention and got on one of the computers as soon as the teacher left.
>Thanks for manifesting 9/11, ojisan
anytime!

If you're a 90s animu fan, you must have witnessed the golden age of 4chan. Or at least the silver age.
There are liek three eras of classic 4chon discovery
-Goon off-siters (2003-2004)
-Anime/video game fans from various forums being linked to it (2004-2006)
-Newgrounds/gaiafag/myspace invasion (2006-2008)
Which one were you?
And when did you make the jump from 4chan to spinoffs and alternative imageboards? Outline your history, you dinosaur
Or if you don't want to talk about yourself (you seem ashamed of your internet past), at least post about the most enigmatic people you've witnessed over the decades. Document the forgotten history of anons past. What were the most bizarre, never-to-be-attempted-since threads you happened to be privy to?
>>
>>190186
i first went to 4chan around 2004 but i didn't understand it so i didn't spend much time there. i started spending my life on 4chan in 2006. i don't remember how i initially heard about it though. i regularly toured altboards but never spent a lot of time on them because i never found one that appealed much to me before heyuri which i didn't find until 2025. the one i remember the most was 12chan. uh idk there was this image of a baby being shit on that was regularly posted on 4chan back in the day which you never see anymore for obvious reasons. idk what else to say in this post although i have a lot to say about 4chan in general.
>>
>>190260
>there was this image of a baby being shit on
lmao
>>
>>190260
it was a gif

not good
>>
>>190263
i joined 4chan in 2011 (edgy teenager) and CP was still a thing there at that point. The first time I ever saw CP was in a thread where OP was making fun of the stupid youtube trend where you play sad music and don't talk and write down sad things on paper and show it. Anon in the thread posted a real guy with a big dick in a real baby's mouth.
>>
>>190260
>the one i remember the most was 12chan
LOL :xd: I didn't take you for a lolicon. Naughty boy
>image of a baby being shit on
It was a video, wasn't it? It's been forever since I've seen it. iirc it was a baby strapped to a bed next to a radiator and he got diarrhea'd all over his face. P funny but probably fake.
I also remember a scene from august underground got posted a lot as shock material, the one where they fuck the corpse of a little girl in the bathtub or something
>i have a lot to say about 4chan in general
Say away, ojisan

I'm not OP but I have a story relating to this topic sort of.
Back in the heyday of my neet period, my dad had a brief whale fucking stint. He'd bring home dirty single mothers every week, and they would always egg him on to beat the fuck out of me when he was super loaded. Anyhow, one time I begged him to take me to the theater to see one of the monogatari movies for my birthday, and when he came to pick me up, he had a big fat white woman in the car, who was sporting a bunch of satanist tattoos. Pretty bizarre, but he's fucked worse.
So as we're driving, they're talking about something internet related, although fat satan lady was carrying the conversation, because my dad doesn't know shit about innernets. Their lovely convo was put to a screeching halt though when I interrupted, blurting out something related to 4chan. The lady stopped talking, and looked like she was experiencing a vietnam flashback. Then she asked me "how do you know about that website", and began ranting and raving about her friends being fucked with by the site, and the depraved shit she had seen. Animal gore, hurtcore, the most heinous shock material you can think of. She's crying during all of this, and my dad looks at me with the most sour "you just cockblocked me you son of a whore" look I had ever seen from him
They still ended up fucking though, it kept me up all night. Her moans were actually pretty cute

according to the replies it was a gif but i don't remember it being a gif but it's possible that i just never clicked on it. i don't remember it being how you describe either but my memory is bad im my old age. i just remember the baby crying and there being shit on its chest. another thing that actually haunts me is a gif of somebody cutting his dick off which was apparently real because years later i found an article on ed about the guy who did it.
