Unspeakable suffering is being endured as we speak by billions, perhaps trillions of sentient creatures. Not only humans, but animals too. Predators ripping flesh from living prey, wounded fighters succumbing to necrotic flesh, starvation, and disease... uncountable farm animals struggling to breathe in battery cages, unable to stand, with open pus-filled wounds, skinned alive, boiled alive, thrown into whirring grinders moments after hatching... to say nothing of the untold millions of human beings kept as slaves, being tortured in prisons, having limbs blown off in war... how are we able to ignore this truly unimaginable suffering? It helps that we do not grasp large numbers very well. A million, a billion... these are abstractions to us. Our mind does not treat those numbers the same as we treat 1 and 100. Our feeble brains can not comprehend the scale of life. The creatures that could, having grasped, and then been torn apart by the terrible truth of reality, did not survive to pass on their genes. Our ignorance... and indifference, was weeded out of us for our own survival...

It’s horrible that this all happens and people have made attempts to stop it. That’s why donating money and clothes to starving African children was popular back then. People are willing to lend a hand but without a plan of action nothing will change.

I don't think there is any plan of action that can change the essence of nature. Short of the extermination of all animal life, suffering will continue to exist and be necessary in nature. As for humans, so far the advancement in their welfare has come at the expense of other animals. There is no fixing things.

If life arose from inorganic matter on earth, then there are certainly aliens. There are countless earth-like planets in the universe. Whether its intelligent is a different question, but I guess the fact that intelligence did emerge means it can't be *that* unlikely. I doubt any government has proof of this though...

I can grasp it pretty well. I am kinda a sensitive person. I feel very bad for dogs just in normal conditions, they are extremely social animals, a sub-species of wolves which are pack animals. Yet most dog owners keep just one or two, their lifes are confusing and scary to them, which is why they bark so much for no reason

I was abused as a kid by family and now that i'm older i realize it's damaged me psychologically and the people that are supposed to care don't care. I've lost friends and I'm not sure if i should just kill myself or just do drugs forever. When i had friends it made me learn that i didn't deserve what happened to me but now that i'm alone i'm numb and don't know myself anymore.
