if asked to simplify
a. memorizing/rotating image in your mind and reproducing it correctly from yohr head
b. illustrating/planning refraction reflection translucency as correct as the scene commands realistically
c. planning spacing blocking of images in a motion or animation,

how would you do that, them, all manualls or pen and paper style basically

hmm, for something like this, wouldnt some kind of LIDAR device be ideal for this situation? assuming it's the figure from the image in question you are inquiring about, just take the 3d scan into blender, and modify accordingly. can add transparency, etc.
