4chan's /p/ board is possibly the most hostile place on the internet - I've legitimately not been able to replicate that anywhere else despite being on the internet for decades, its special in the way that there are 25+ threads but only one at most isn't comprised of people fighting eachother and calling eachother names I would not be able to sleep at night after calling someone

/g/ was MUCH worse
I maintain that back when I went on 4chan, I was able to regularly hold a discussion about games that wasn't just pure shitflinging. Yes, I ended up going on to /vr/ more as time went because it was less obnoxious (emphasis on was), but it wasn't a pipe dream.
It has been maybe 10 years since I've been able to do that on /g/. Everyone is ready to jump down your throat for using a solution they wouldn't use, or buying something they wouldn't consider.

It's about politics and cultural war. The site is flooded with people with strong political opinions who are always going to find something to make the discussion political and get mad about it. Namecalling these days is always politically charged like nigger, tranny, pajeet etc. They don't want to have an on-topic discussion in good faith, they just want to fight their enemies.
