I'm curious, do any of you have any subcultures besides the general otaku/Japanese internet culture that this board is designed around?

I've always been very into heavy metal, especially the more "extreme" variety (black metal, death metal, etc.). I love the most off-putting and culturally "shocking" elements of anime and manga (loli, guro, etc.) and have always enjoyed metal for similar reasons. For that reason, it feels like it makes sense for metalheads to naturally be attracted to other weird subcultures and vice versa.

Do you have any other subcultures you consider yourself "fluent" in that aren't typically "otaku" in character? I have trouble thinking of ones besides metal that aren't explicitly political or religious in nature and that legitimately appeal to non-extroverted outsiders.

Hard to tell. I am somewhat prepping, does that count?

i'm a metalfag \m/. i remember seeing at least one other anon on /sw/ saying he was one 2.

I'm into a lot of hardcore punk related subcultures like emo, sxe, crust ect. I like it for the same reason as you, as in the shock value but I do also like a lot of the social comentary punk adds into the music too. Also I do consider myself to be fluent in metal cuz the constant crossover between punk and metal so theres that too lol.

and it's even better when it combined together

Loli is not shocking, it's cute! (´ー`)
>>
I'm into punk rock culture. Sadly don't know anyone IRL that is into it as well

i have recently gotten into old school death metal and its been quite enjoyable. i appreciate the emotional purity of the scene.

anything counter-culture appeals to me because i am edgy like that. warhammer 40k hits a similar vein for me.

they still have it totally but idk, something about the band with the song no we don't have any tshirts selling 50$ hoodies and asking for 30000$ guarantees feels pretty wrong
>>
>>161667
i dont think they sell there merch that high and the ticket was pretty inexpensive it was like 20$ or so? in modern America thats rlly the best u can get for a show at a actual venue
>>
I'm moderately into tabletop roleplaying games. don't frequent 4/tg/ much these past few years, but I spent enough time there to learn the ropes. nowadays I just make my own simple RPG systems to play with my own friend groups.

>is this uziga waita art
yeah, he did a couple of album covers for some bands

I saw orchid on their first reunion and I can guarantee you that they do sell merch that high and do have a guarantee that high. I play in a screamo band and know people who tried seriously to book them + booked other big reunion shows. I've got no respect for people who try to make screamo a game of clout and money, that includes old heads trying to make a profit and feel famous and tiktokers who think diy is about looking cool and being edgy

i dont care for this subgenre of loli and anime girls at all. im just here to spread my bullshit and lurk since theres nowhere else to go.
>>
I'm very well-known in the gay fisting scene, does that count?
>>
I'm also big into metal, especially tech death and brutal death, but black metal is great too. I think metal is the nerd's choice of musical genre.
>>161664
What are your favorite bands from that time period?
>>
>>161706
Ok I didn’t know that, thats fucking gay asf. I might rethink going because I don’t want to support that. That just makes me sad asf now…..
>>
>>161562
i second this !!! !
>>
>>161729
it is sad. I don't mean to be pessimistic, but that's the hand were given. all we can do is make bands, host shows, and build our own culture. when I get mad about the current scene I look back to revolution summer and that is always a bit inspirational.
>>
>>161734
Another revolution summer needs to happen... I'm tired of the same cookie cutter bs I'm trying to start my own band but cuz the cards that have been delt to me cuz my location its really hard to set one up.
>>
>>161757
good luck anon. when I was a bit younger I was in the same boat, but if you keep going to shows and keep talking to people a band will spring up eventually
