splitgate 1’s servers shut down, splitgate 2 flopped, and battlefield 6’s UI makes me want to vomit instead of playing the game — plus the season pass bullshittery :closed-eyes: what FPS games can I even play now? destiny 2? fucking call of duty? I didn't quite like titanfall 2 when I played it but now I'll have to give it another chance :sweat3:

Deadlock is free. You just need an invite, and those are plentiful.

i've seen gameplay and it looks just like COD... the maps are tiny. i guess they want to get as many CODfags as possible lol.

>what FPS games can I even play now?
there really aren't many options at all, sadly. i play CS1.6 deathmatch, and on rare occasions i'll play BO2 via plutonium. i also play Halo 2 with some friends when they come over, using NucleusCoop. that's the most fun i have with FPSs nowadays ...i miss Halo. (;´Д`)

I played halo infinite when it first came out and enjoyed it to some extend. sadly, no one plays anymore

The Counter-Strike 2 + Team Fortress 2 + Overwatch 2 combo has not once let me down

I'd play Quake Live too if I could but there is no force on this earth able to revive that game now, Krunker works okay as an alternative

gay

old but gold
>Overwatch 2

bro all the sequel series you mentioned are straight up downgrade :closed-eyes:

Don't really agree, Overwatch 2 is identical to 1 in every way so if you didn't like 1 you wouldn't like 2 and vice versa

I think Counter-Strike 2 is straight up better than CS:GO, CS:GO was awful in my eyes because it removed everything that made Source fun in terms of movement and gameplay, but atleast CS2 has things like dynamic smokes that make gameplay more interesting, and Source 2's inclusion of nVIDIA Reflex and an updated Hammer engine & audio engine is great aswell - so the game overall is slightly more tolerable

Aren't there a bajillion online multiplayer FPS games out there spanning multiple decades?

A little while ago I set up a fan-patched version of MoH:AA (2002), and there were still enough people playing that I had a choice of servers to join at any time. There was less choice than there was in 02-03 of course, but it didn't feel much different to how it felt playing it back in the day (in fact it was better cuz there were less haxx0rz shooting you through the floor)

These are known as 'boomer-shooters', noone is playing them anymore, the reason you got servers is because you (likely) live in America or Western Europe, they've been abandoned in most of the world. Quake is dead, Medal of Honor, CoD:WaW is dead, Unreal Tournament is dead, Etc. etc.

Firstly, Rule 8. Secondly, that term refers to Doom clones and Quake-like "arena shooters" - not post-Half-Life/post-Halo FPS games, which aren't that different to today's FPS games (minus all the AIDS liek microtransactions, lootboxes, etc.)

>Firstly, Rule 8.
Not applicable, Baby Boomer is a term coined in the 1960s & commonly used. It'd be retarded if it was considered part of the -oomer modern slang.

Are we just not allowed to reference that generation on Heyuri? I'd understand if you didn't want us to say Zoomer in place of Generation Z since that is newslang. But the boomers?

I might have the definition wrong.

"Baby boomer" isn't banned. The 4chan/wider internet meme from a few years ago, where "boomer = millennials and gen X" (and lead to the whole -oomer thing in the first place), is what's banned cuz the "ok boomer" shit was rampant and annoying around the time of Heyuri's conception

The latter is where the term "boomer shooter" comes from, referring to pre-story-driven FPS games from the 90s (which actual baby boomers were largely not playing since they were in their 40s & 50s at the time - if anything, they were the ones trying to ban violent video games e.g. Jack Thompson)
