What is your favourite jrpg?
I am gonna try out trails in the sky chapter 1. SOmeone also recommended me Tengai Makyo.
Literally the only jrpg I've played is an atelier game; atelier Ayesha, which was actually pritty good.

Trails in the Sky is great, though I never got around to finishing part 2 - in fact I usually never finish JRPGs cuz they're almost always too long for me :sweat2:

However, I still enjoy playing JRPGs, primarily from the 8-bit/16-bit era: Pokemon, Final Fantasy 4/5/6, Chrono Trigger, Star Ocean, Tales of Phantasia, Secret of Mana, Phantasy Star 1/2/4, and a bajillion others. I dunno if Dragon View counts since it's more of an action-adventure game, but that game rocked and I even managed to complete it \(^O^)/

I'm not crazy for 3D JRPGs since they're usually even more slow-paced than their 2D counterparts, and ones with English-dubbed voice acting are fukken painful (thank kamisama for UNDUB creators). That hasn't stopped me from enjoying the likes of FF 7/9/10 (not a fan of 8...), Chrono Cross, Xenogears, Xenosaga, etc.

any answer other than the Yakuza series is inherently wrong

The english dub on the ateleir games is good. Most anime with dubs I've seen have been awful so I see why you'd have that view. You can ofcourse just change hte language setting...

I dislike the word "favourite" I have such a hard time picking just one. I often cycle through lots of different games, rarely coming back to any.

To answer that question, Bravely Default for the Nintendo 3DS. The narrative, the gameplay, the soundtrack, the characters and their chemistry. All very thrilling. It's a good game.

Do tactical jrpg's count? Like FF tactics? I've been into tactical turn based games quite a lot.

Sadly that's not true for a lot of games - especially older games on 5th/6th-gen systems that I would otherwise be more interested in

Kuso-quality English dubs are often the only option unless someone has been kind enough to made an "undub" (replacing the English audio tracks with the Japanese originals while keeping the English text)

Baldr Sky was decent. Its not turn based though.
