What f*cking freak at Ubuntu thought it was a good idea to make middle mouse button an paste shortcut?

I dont like that at all... i use middle mouse button all the time for auto scroll! :dark:
>>
middle click paste is a lot older than Ubuntu
that's just how things are on Unix and have been for like 30 years

wait until you notice selections overwrite the copy buffer
or closing the program from what you copied empties it (since it only does the copy at the time of pasting)
>>
I liek it
I'm sure it's possible to disable it however of you wanted
>>
>>157142
but i dont want to be constantly pasting while using web pages ヽ(`Д´ )ノ thats kuso!! i use middle mouse for opening links and scrolling what the hell!!

>>157143

>>
>>157144

>>
>>157146

>>
I use that all the time for copy pasting stuff between terminals
>>
i didn't even notice that you could paste with middle click
>>
I just found out you can do that through this post, what is this magic? (;゚Д゚)
>>
i don't think that's an ooga booga two specific feature :glare2:
>>
i get its a unix thing but honestly i do feel like how windows uses it for a scroll is 10x more easier to understand and nicer
>>
Btw middle mouse specifically pastes what you last clicked, not what you last copied
>>
Also this is not an ubuntu feature it's just a linux feature
>>
>>157154
are you serious? (;´Д`)

Are people not worried about just pasting things everywheres accidsentally? Σ(゚д゚|||)

>>
Ugh, you can tell what a total noob made this thread :glare2:
>>
>>157168

>>
>>157142
Does Linux Mint do this crap, too? Sounds awful.
>>
yeah mint does it too, never happened to me though :lolico:

Mint is a distribution, this kind of thing is managed by the desktop environment. Distributions generally don't matter.

If you are on kde plasma:
1. Open System Settings → Input Devices → Mouse → Middle Click Paste
2. Uncheck “Enable middle-click paste”.

Other DEs cant disable it except by disabling middle mouse click entirely.
KDE is truly a superior german engineering example.

Amateurs.

AMATEURS.

Distributions dont fucking exist.

I raise you a Konqi, dear brother/sister in K Desktop Environment.

Okay so on both wayland and X11 middle mouse pastes the last selected text, but this isnt extended to things that are in the clipboard (such as files, filepaths, etc), these are two separate things. From what im understanding. :astonish:
>>
>>157234
That's correct, so it's like having two clipbaords.
>>
>>157234
Changing the image server wouldn't have had an effect eitherway
