There was a thread a few weeks ago about "What would your family do if they found out you browse Heyuri" - and it had alot of interesting replies. It relates to this discussion about digital footprints - the permanent record you leave of all of your activities online

But that thread seemed to be mostly jokes. I still am left wondering how the people browsing sites like this actually plan to reckon with the fact it may well come to light one day.

Now posting on a forum like this, if thats all you do, doesn't really leave a deep print in the mud. But some people went a little farther than that (Say, uploading pictures of yourself in underwear to this board...) - we have more to reckon with. The average kid of today has left a deep print, most kids don't understand why they shouldn't slap their name and face on everything they do online - neither did I.

Now if someone, an employer, a snoopy coworker, or my grandparents, were to do a little bit of digging, I'd be ridiculed for being an absolute clown on the internet as a kid - doing what kids do, seeking attention

Sigh - it's all just so complicated, can anyone here relate? And what is your advice?

just distance yourself enough from people that they never ask enough questions to get there (´人`)
to be fair i was decently internet cautious as a kid so i never used my names on anything, i can't relate to the fear of discovery. if i did get discovered i'd certainly have alot of weird conversations that will annoy me (;゚Д゚). Yeah, i do like futas mom. Why do you keep asking

excitement. it basically says "it's here!!"

I've been thinking this as well recently, I have att tied to my full name online and have in the past been in situations where that made me very uncomfortable. it's part of why I prefer anonymity and try to tie myself less to profiles

Three questions:
How common is your name where you live?
What did you do?
Where did you post this?

If someone finds a page with your name on it, you can say that it's someone else/a bot/an account your relatives made, that got hacked later on and started posting spam.

If you posted pics or a video then that's something else. How bad is it? Like "I play pokemon go song" levels of bad, or 14/88 levels of bad? Or is it "devious lick" activity level of bad?

Finally, see if you can delete the file and account on the website. An old saying is that "everything you post on the internet is forever", but link rot, site restructuring and unpaid hosting has claimed many files I've been looking for; these only remain in the local disk stores of people who saved them. If you're lucky, the website you posted to will be inaccessible in the near future. Of course, if what you did is absolutely ridiculous, it's a certainty that someone has archived it or reuploaded it. Though whether anyone knows the right person to contact to get the file is up to chance.

Ultimately, do not underestimate the power of obsessively dedicated witch hunters on the internet, especially if they're on a moral crusade. I don't have any advice on stopping them, sorry I can't be of more help OP.

i used to be extremely stressed all the time but then i realized that worrying so much before anything has even happened is pointless
if something happens i will deal with it, until then i will enjoy my life

thank you

I am constantly glad that I spent the effort to separate anything I do with my real name from my general Internet activities. I've also generally avoided doing things like posting pictures of my room or even my desktop if I can help it (this one is mostly so I don't instantly dox myself by posting my desktop between my real name identity and my general web one).
I could be turbo paranoid and have separate user accounts or vms or somenting for that, but it is more effort than it's worth; my threat model is geared toward making it hard to connect the dots (since you wouldn't have a reason to) while not unduly inconveniencing myself.
