While you diligently spent your time consulting the internet, I wasted my life on Kirby Super Star's GREAT CAVE OFFENSIVE

Kirby Super Star is pretty great OP. Great Cave Offensive is especially cool what with all the different areas and music and challenges and aesthetics. There were parts in grassy caves, parts in the sky, parts in outer space, and parts in a cool castle area... My only wish would be for it to be a true maze instead of being a linear path between hubs with short offshoots.

Regardless, it's pretty damn unique, and the only other game to try that again was the spiritual successor, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. Go ahead and play through the rest of Super Star, play Amazing Mirror, and give Super Star Ultra a try someday too! Graphically there was less effort put into that version, but it controls better and has some cool exclusive game modes that are def worth checking out.

Hell and while you're at it, play Kirby's Adventure, too, as it's probably my favorite Kirby game (Nightmare in Dreamland IS a remake of that game, but you ought to avoid playing it first because it's a pretty lazy remake whose biggest perks are simply a superior engine as well as a cool unlockable extra mode. In my opinion the best version of Kirby's Adventure is definitely the port to the 3DS).

Thanks for the recommendations!
I've already played kirby's adventure and kirby super star ultra. In fact, I had super star ultra on the ds as a kid (as my first kirby game, I think), so I wanted to see what the original was like. I guess I'll play Kirby and the Amazing Mirror next time I play a kirby game.

Anything for a fellow Kirby enjoyer. Enjoy Amazing Mirror; it's really cool with the big interconnected maze design and all the little treasures to find. Personally I also much like Return to Dreamland (especially when playing local co-op with friends) and Planet Robobot, though since those are newer games perhaps they might not be to the taste of old-skoolers.
