If a phone with a slideout keyboard released today, do you think you'd buy it? For how much?

If the battery lasts for longer than 2 weeks and it doesn't use Android...

$1. No one even contacts me (´・ω・`)

I don't know, my current phone still works and I'm broke right now.
but I would have paid a fair bit if it was an option when I got my phone

I still miss when I had a BlackBerry even though it was shit for a lot of things
spent a hilarious amount of time on IRC with the world's shittiest IRC client and using the world's shittiest SSH client (major terminal emulation issues)
but being able to do that shit in like 2010 felt like magic (^Д^)

upgrading to an android phone was great because the software selection didn't suck anymore
but it was shit because on screen keyboards are ass and I'm definitely slower than I was on the BlackBerry, even with autocomplete and shit (・∀・)

The Unihertz Titan line is pretty much your only option for a physical keyboard phone these days. They aren't the most powerful and chinky as fuck, but the keyboard is decent and that's the key thing I'm using one a phone. They're about to release the Titan 2 in Oct. I was tempted, but it's a chunky boy and I'm content with my Titan Slim for the moment.

Other options are:
- Clicks Keyboard case which works with the Motorola Razr foldable, which looks alright folded and absurdly long unfolded.
- Someone is retrofitting the Blackberry Q20 to update the hardware and install android. You will eventually be able to buy kits to do it yourself or get prebuilt ones for you. They plan on developing retrofits for the KeyOne and Passport as well.

God I miss when phones were good. Honestly, I've been on the lookout for a decent keitai flip phone which will work in my country.

I don't like unihertz cuz they're never original with the designs. the titan 2 is just a blackberry passport! It's good to see the design back but i wanted something new, but still akin to that olde feature packed style

I know that semi-recently there was the kickstarted fxtec pro family with a slideout in 2018, but that thing was long since out of production, and is non-existent on any shopping sites. half the backers apprrently didnt even get the thing. sux ( ´,_ゝ`)

that q20 upgrade is looking interesting though (^Д^) i didnt think anyone would be bothered to completely remake the hardware, akin to those 51nb thinkpad mods. cool shit

Yeah, mileage varies big time on Unihertz. Yes you get buttons, but you get a shit camera, outdated software, weird quirks, small or weirdly shaped screen, etc. Honestly, the keyboard is all I want, but I know what you mean. Mobile phones are way too much into the trenches with candy bar design. Even the modern foldables just fold out into a bar, I don't know how people in the design industry don't lose their minds because it's all black bars. Fuck, how do you be excited for new phone when it looks exactly the same? Technology has stagnated.
