i usually aim for medium rare when cooking them but it usually ends up way too raw in the middle or well-done/dry (⌒∇⌒ゞ)

Medium, always.
It's fine if it's a little over or under that, but not too far over or under.

I have not been convinced that a particularly rare steak tastes good and the flavors in looking for haven't developed yet since it isn't cooked enough, but once you're past medium well, you might as well not be eating steak; it's dry, the texture is all wrong, and the flavor has changed once more.

a good medium steak with some mushrooms is divine

I want to try one of these fried breaded steaks! Normally I get medium-well to medium-rare, but steaks are expensive in restaurants and I don't like spending time cooking them (and especially cleaning pans).

Also which steak cut is your favorite? I like porterhouse sirloins, round/rump and tenderloins.

I overcook everything. Even when something tells me to microwave it for 2-3 minutes, I'm going to microwave it for 4.
