Teh steam deck due how versatile it - I use it both as handheld and can plug it in to a TV. Which I do at times. I can play retrogames such as PS2 or play visuals novels such as To Heart 2. And, ofc new titels such as Stellar Blade & Elden Ring. Imo, it's perfect for what i need. OLED HDR is amazing!

Of the ones I actually owned, PS1 & PS2 - but on emulators I enjoy teh crap out of 16-bit era console games a lot too

teh N64 was TEH best console as a kid, it was teh most epic thing ever. PS2 is always a classic too.

i need to get a steam deck so bad! im always going back and forth between two houses so i need something portable and my laptop sux

I had mine for 1 year now, and i absolute love it. I heard rumors about steam deck 2, so worth waiting for? Also teh Steam OS is really solid and works great. I buy most of my games on Steam Sales - expect those games i DL - such all visuals novels. Super easy to get running and i never really had any issue with a game not working. There are some tinkering - but once you learn - its easy. + there are a lot of videos out there.

Teh battery is great imo, i get about 2 hours on Stellar blade. A lot more playing VNS. 10h?

PS1 games: 700MB per disc and many games came on multiple discs so you got GIGABYTES of game
n64 gayms: 8MB, maybe 16MB per cart and the carts were so expensive to make that I don't think any n64 gaym had multiple carts?

N64 controllers only had one thumbstick and fewer buttons too. If my mom had got me a n64 instead of a PS1 when I was a kid I probably would have beat the shit out of her and strangled her to death with the controller cord.

With the N64, most people had the exact same handful of games since there wasn't a wide selection they were extortionately expensive - though many of those games were excellent

With the PS1 there was a HUEG variety, the games were liek half the price, and many of us had chipped consoles + a bajillion pirated games. There was plenty of mediocre games & shovelware, but there were a ludicrous number of all-time classics as well

it really depends on what you were doing
if I wanted multiplayer games, it was N64 all day; GoldenEye, Smash, F-Zero X, Mario Party, etc

also, until the DualShock started shipping, the PS1 had zero thumb sticks and less buttons (admittedly, trying to use Z, L, and R at the same time wasn't really feasible, but exempting it, you have the same amount of available buttons as a pre-DualShock controller)

but as a single player machine, the PS1 mostly sails straight over the N64, which has no FF7 (or 8, or 9), no MGS, no Gran Turismo, and those are just the hyper-popular games
the PS1 has tons of good games just because of how many games it got
there are whole genres that are basically completely absent on the N64

hands down, super nintendra.
I hadent played it for about 30 years or so (still have the controller) because it was given to me as a handmedown christmas gift from some 16 year old my dad met on instant messenger. They broke up within a month of their relationship, so the console was stripped from me. I never got to beat mario rpg or dkc2 (the two games she gave to me along with the snes)

I'm probably more modern than most but I love the xbox 360, perhaps because I just used it the most

i just browsed it on the regular 3ds browser...LOL

PSX and PS2.
PSP is my favorite handheld.
i look like a sony fanboy, but i also loved the N64 and SNES! (;´Д`)
sony's 5th and 6th generation game catalogs were simply on another level.

i loved both the PS2 and teh Halo console during the 6th gen, obviously nowadays i prefer going back to the console with an actual catalog (^Д^). but the Halo days were simply magical. a true "you had to be there" era.

This has got me thinking, has anyone tried any of those bootleg emulator consoles? I saw this one called the R36S that can emulate a lot of consoles and is cheap.
