"Which is more dangerous, fantasies - or a society that tries to forbid them?"

Some of you may remember a thread I created months ago asking for help finding a rare or possibly lost documentary called Passion Despair. The film follows Daniel, a Swiss man living in Moldova where he works as a photographer shooting CandyDoll style content who eventually marries Romina, one of his models. The film explores the morality of his work and society's views of it.

Well, I finally got it, and I've uploaded it to archive.org! :mona2:

Hope you enjoy, let me know what you think. :nagato:

Interesting documentary!

However the player on archive.org doesnt load the subtitles. I don't know if thats an error on your part or an issue with archive.org.

No, there are subs. I thought they were hardcoded in because there's no .srt file with it. I don't know how subtitles work, maybe the archive.org player just doesn't support displaying them for some reason?

And when I open it in VLC and click "sub track" - it shows an option to turn them on or off, despite there not being an .srt file.

I think if you guys download the movie they should work.

mkv files are containers like zip files, but video players can play them. Multiple audio tracks or subtitles can be put inside an mkv file.

Extract the subtitle file and convert to mp4 with ffmpeg.

ffmpeg -i file.mkv

Look for lines mentioning “Subtitle” with a stream number like Stream #0:2 or similar.

Once you know which stream is the subtitle you want (for example, 0:2), extract it with:

ffmpeg -i file.mkv -map 0:2 subs.srt

Then convert to mp4:

ffmpeg -i file.mkv -c:v copy -c:a copy movie.mp4
Rename the subtitle file same as mp4: movie.srt

Have you tried unplugging the subtitles and plugging them back in?

I don't have a stache and wireframe glasses, but I think people can tell anyway.

The subs are bitmap subs so idk how to extract them from the mkv but they are really annoying and have a weird yellow line at the top of the video.
