I watched this video today about Deniable Encryption vs Normal Encryption and now I want to use Veracrypt instead of continuing to use LUKS. Has anyone here used Veracrypt for their drives before for anything?

I've always been too lazy to bother with deniable encryption when using VC ┐(゚~゚)┌

I use veracrypt but not deniable encryption. When shit gets real they wont believe you. You're better off being tortured.

The thing that nerdy guys don't understand is that real life criminals are not characters in your logic plays. Give them what they want or they will beat the shit out of you. You think they care if its deniable?

If you fear cops then you should know that in most western countries you are not getting charged for denying to snitch on yourself

Remember the sole trick for cops that you need. That is - do not confirm or deny that there are illegal things on the encrypted drive. Do not CONFIRM or DENY. Do not respond. If they have a warrant - do not respond whether you can decrypt it or not.

If I were investigated I would pull my shirt over my mouth, put my hands into sleeves and lie down facing the table not giving a single response. They also watch for fidgeting, breathing patterns, posture or coughing so don't do any - as if you froze completely. They won't be able to see facial reactions to what they say so no additional clues, they won't get fingerprints because fingers are in sleeves, mouth is in a shirt so DNA would barely pass and be very contaminated and that is it, no use. It gives more time to think until they get the warrant. At worst I would just sit playing unresponsive the best I could.

They could order everyone to dig deeper very hard if you said there is illegal stuff on the disk. And if you said there is no illegal stuff they could make you decrypt it "because there is nothing illegal so you can't be snitching on yourself now" and if you deny it after that you are getting charged with impeding an investigation, or even tampering with evidence and these are hard charges. That is at least one charge you are getting found on :xd:

And while you have secret cheese pizza stash - put a longer password on it. Above 16 letters is the minimum I use for my encryption because it would ages to brute force it, like millions of years, and I made sure my password is so unusual that it cannot be cracked with a dictionary.

And I use luks because it is more universal, I don't fear cops because I know how to behave. I would consider that feature if I were to sneak stuff in and out offline, like past north korea border. It is also too easy to break such encrypted drive losing data.

Whatever you do - never deny or confirm legality of contents, never confirm whether it is or isn't your drive, and never confirm whether you are able to decrypt it or not. Case will be closed with insufficient evidence on your initial court date.
