Why is it that every White person or non Indian person for that matter that gets into Hinduism is extremely weird? i get that converting to a foreign religion is usually done by those who are on the outskirts of whatever society they are currently a member of but Hinduism consistently seems to attract the most insane people

I've seen more white people into Buddhism than Hinduism, but yes, Westerners are interested in Eastern religions. One reason is that they misunderstand the dharmic religions and feel they have "less rules" or be "more tolerant" than the Abrahamic religions. But this is not always the case, and I think many are sincerely seeking spirituality. They rightly see that Evangelical Christianity is the McDonald's of religion and because of its widespread influence, mistakenly believe all Christianity must be similarly bereft of wisdom so they go looking for it in the East.
